What you can do with Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s 2019 Giving Journal

With approach of each new year is the resolution to be more efficient and organized.  This is why year-round planners abound in bookstores and paper supply stores at the onset of the holiday season.

Lately, brands have launched their own custom planners, giving their loyal customers a way to experience their brands throughout the year, while contributing to their #organizationgoals.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, the coffeehouse founded by Herb Hyman in Southern California in 1963, has a slightly different perspective.

With The 2019 Giving Journal, CBTL brings the spotlight towards generosity.  It highlights the Real LIFE Foundation, CBTL’s beneficiary since 2011 which receives support for its endeavors to provide educational assistance to the less fortunate.

CBTL Giving Journal

I was given a copy of The 2019 Giving Journal by a friend but as I already have another planner, and in keeping with CBTL’s aim to be generous this year (and with my friend’s blessing, of course!), I am giving this journal away.

CBTL Giving Journal

For the recipient of this journal, here’s what you can do with it:

Plan your year (of course!).  The journal has pages where you can set your monthly goals (whether in your finances, reading, relationships or health), as well as the monthly overview and weekly notes that let you break down your tasks and celebrate your accomplishments.

Look back on how you can do and be better.  At the end of each month, the journal encourages you to reflect and resolve on how you can further improve.

Treat your friends to a good ole’ cuppa.  In keeping with the theme of generosity, why not invite a friend to a coffee date that’s on you?  That’s easy to do with the Buy 1 Take 1 coupons for coffee drinks and other upgrades and freebies included in the planner.

CBTL Giving Journal

Appreciate the creativity of Filipino artists.  The journal features the works of twelve Filipino artists, many of whom were CBTL customers themselves who showcased their talents through CBTL’s initiatives such as Brew Your Best Year and #CoffeeBeanOceanArt contest or by volunteering in the company’s events.

CBTL Giving Journal

This is a great planner to have around, either to look forward to the coming months or to document what goes on throughout your year.

  1. As with the previous years, I will still be generous with my time for my friends and loved ones. I realized that we are not getting any younger so I should spend as much time as I can with the people I value. I really do not have much financially but what I can offer to the people I love is of greater importance than money.

  3. This year, I plan to live generously by giving more of my time to help others when they need me. If my friends need a listening ear, I’ll be there. If my family needs help, I’ll be ready.

Btw can I just say how I love CBTL’s new planner designs, especially the black one? ❤️

  6. To live generously, I will have to start by looking on how I invest my time. Time is free yet it’s priceless. Plotting out goals each week through this journal can help me become more generous with where I spend my minutes- me time, family time, God’s time and time for others. 🙂

  8. I plan to live generously this year by paying a little more attention to my health. I have been so caught up in taking care of my family that I tend to unintentionally disregard my own health. Guess that’s how Moms really are (,”) This year, I will be generous to myself, more vitamins, more rest, more “hobby” time, and more healthy food. Like my husband say, a happy wife makes a happy life.

To my fellow Moms out there, it’s not a crime to be generous to ourselves (from time to time LOL)

  10. This year 2019, I plan to live generously to myself. As a working student and a breadwinner, I’m so busy to earn money for my education and daily needs for my family. Sometimes, I forgot that I am a human, I get tired and exhausted from everything I do. Last year, I learned the importance of Self-love. In able to be loved and blessed, I have to love myself first and everything will follow. I can give back to others too with a genuine heart and clear mind. I wish for peaceful and happy year!

  16. to live generously you have to have enough for yourself, see to it that you can be the best version of yourself and being able to share it with others is the least you can do. Be a good person, consistently. In these times, goodness seems to be so under rated,. I hope to be better with this planner. Cheers and have a good year.

  18. To live generously is being able to share a portion of yourself to others, giving may be done financially but the amount of time does not equal the happiness you can give to someone. You know sometimes when you give, you felt surreal happiness and contentment. Because in giving, we produce happy hormones that lift our spirits.♥️ Ig: @lhaidava

  20. As a person who struggles to be a light in this world, here are some of my personal goals as well on how to live a happy life = being generous

💚 Be generous to mankind = While growing up my parents taught me to share my blessings even in simple ways such as extra tip to kind drivers/staff, giving extra food to street kids, paying more to local vendors who deserved more and etcetera.

💚 Be generous to the society = My heart has always belonged in helping the poor and the socially disadvantaged. As a student, I’ve engaged myself in various volunteering activities such as Traslacion, outreach, gift-giving, first aid duties and more. Being able to make someone happy makes my soul happy too.

💚 Be generous to Mother Earth. Lately, I’ve been woke that our planet is slowly on its way to destruction due to mankind’s lack of responsibility. I’ve started to become a zero waste advocate and have been applying it in my daily life through the means of refusing plastic, bringing eco-bag, dining in, bringing re-usable spoon and fork and a lot more.

I’ve seen a lot of planners but the only one that really caught my attention the most is Coffee Bean’s The Giving Journal as I think it resonates well with my passion and advocacy for social transformation.💚

  21. I really cannot promise to be the most generous version of myself all year long but with my CBTL planner, I can, at least, lay out my giving goals and let it be my reminder to give something back or do something for my church (tithing), my loved ones (time and patience), environment and animals (donating and volunteering), community (outreach), and myself (health and future).

Due to some financial setbacks, I won’t be able to get the 2019 Giving Journal but I have been using this planner since 2016 and it really encourages me to have open hands and share whatever and whenever I can. I may not be the most generous giver but because of the little givings that I’m doing, I know I am already making a difference, no matter how teeny-tiny it is . 🙂

  22. I do understand that it is really a challenge to be generous if you are the only breadwinner of the family or the income that you have for your family is enough as budgeting it is just break-even.

I am like that example, but I know I am blessed in a different aspects of my life. My family is healthy, I have a job, I have many blessings everyday. With that many blessings everyday, it made me realized that I should not only be a recipient of blessings. There is a being deep inside m saying that I really want to give and bless the people around me.

That is why this year, though my budget is limited, I will live generously. I now know that If I give, I will not be in lack. If I give then I am opening other doors of opportunity for me to be blessed in many areas of my life and my family’s life as well. If I give, then I am emptying my cup so that it will be filled again.

This year, I will live generously by making a donation to charities that caters less privileged children. I also want to bless my teammates and planning to treat them a snack atleast once a month. I can cook pasta for them, or simply buy ‘turon & lumpia’ for an afternoon snack. I will also allot a portion of my salary and save it then by Christmas will have a gift-giving to a less fortunate community.

I will do it and will not falter. 🙂

  23. Giving and sharing blessings gives me a feeling of happiness and satisfaction. I know that the real sense of giving is when it hurts and requires sacrifice that is why this year, I really want to live generously and I want to do it by adopting a community that I can support. I know that giving is not only through financial but also sharing your skills, your talents, your time as well. I will do it, I am focused to do it, and I am excited to make a difference and live generously!
