Brian got his Headquarters! on Limitless

So Brian has got it into his head that he needs an office… no, a Headquarters! (with exclamation point). After seeing the gazillion ways that Naz can say “No!” Brian offered to wipe out the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List in exchange for said accommodation.

He mobilized a team composed of his FBI cohorts which he called the Bruntouchables and they started apprehending the fugitives.

After helping one of the fugitives prove his innocence (very reminiscent of Richard Kimble) and ticking off 8 names from the list (one of which is a Ponzi schemer who likes to bag big game in Africa), Naz gave in to his demand for a headquarters.

On the homefront, Brian decided to open up to his dad about NZT after noticing that the old man has been distancing himself from Brian due to his many secrets. Dad brought a box of goodies to their heart-to-heart talk which contains a diagram of how Brian copied off a seatmate’s geography exam in third grade and a mobile that shows how Brian made money of his sixth grade classmates. I guess we now know that Brian’s habit of creating elaborate diagrams was evident even during childhood.

What Happens When Pirates Pirate Pirates on Limitless

I was all for Naz going all tough and empowered during her meeting with the big bossess in Washington.

Until she was put under lock-and-key for treason (for funding terrorist when she waa actually negotiating the ransom of her kidnapped niece) and ADIC Johnson was called in to replace her temporarily. If you want people to be annoyed with a character, get this guy to play him.

Luckily, before her incarceration, she was able to mobilize Brian and Rebecca. Enter her daughter Ava.

I’m glad an episode was able to shed some light on Naz. And with the sparks that flew between Ava and Brian, we can expect to see Ava again sometime.

Arrow’s Brotherhood is heavy on family

This episode is heavy on family, drawing parallels among the many issues that different sets of siblings have on each other. The trigger is Diggle‘s discovery that his brother, Andy, is alive and apparently one of Hive’s minions. Having extracted said brother from the organization with the help of #TeamArrow, it remains to be seen how he will deal with his errant sibling.

Oliver‘s sister, Thea, is feeling the return of her bloodlust but was able to discover that Damon Dark is a way for her to control it. Why she asks Malcolm Merlin, not her brother, for help I just don’t understand.

Operation: Rescue Ray is a Go in Arrow’s Lost Souls

After getting a distress call from her former boss/lover Ray Palmer, Felicity, together with Team Arrow, went on Operation: Rescue Ray.

Saddled by guilt from leaving Ray in what turned out be his time of need and peril, Felicity started becoming hostile towards Oliver, feeling that she is losing herself in him. It’s a good thing her mom Donna was there to straighten her out. Whew! So far, my #HEA is safe (but for how long?).

By the way, there’s a new couple I’m shipping: Donna and Quentin Lance. They met in a bar when they were both convalescing on their children’s mishaps. I would like to see what grows from their meet-cute.

Ex with Benefits on SKYcable Pay-per-View

While Ex with Benefits is about the TOTGA (The One That Got Away), what I found interesting are the different instances of gender dynamics:

  1. Adam, as a pre-eminent doctor, dangled his all-important endorsement for medrep Arki‘s product and she engaged in an “exwith  benefits” arrangement with him.
  2. Scarlet, upon learning of her rival for the good doctor’s attentions, immediately denigrated Arki’s appearance sight unseen. For example, “Arkisha? Parang pangalan ng mataba!”
  3. All this sex in exchange for favors going on as if everything of value that a woman can give involves access to her body. The scene where the windows were closing on Arki right before such a scene was very disturbing.

That said, Ex with Benefits is entertaining, filled with #hugot lines and steamy scenes.

Berserkers Abound in Sleepy Hollow’s The Art of War

So the Monsters-of-the-Week that Team Witness Ichabod and Abbie have to face are (drumroll, please)… Norse berserkers!

They were sent by Nevins to retrieve Jenny who was infected by the shard last episode and is now manifesting mutant powers. But she still got some lip action with Joe.

The episode ends with the berserker baddies beaten but another new horror that “makes Pandora look like a homeroom teacher” has arrived, welcomed by no less than an under-the-spell Jenny.

Oliver’s getting to be quite cunning in How to Get Away with Murder

Whew! I was worried for Oliver for a while there. But I must say, the cunning of the Keating 5 must be rubbing off in him.

Prior to that scene was a very quotable quote from Annalise after getting more recriminations from Nate: “You must decide whether you want to forgive me. But I won’t spread my legs as some sort of payment.”

In other news:

  1. Wes is really becoming a whiny drag, weighed down by his guilt over Sam’s death.
  2. Four couples do the dirty.
  3. The reveal of the night is that Catherine Hapstall and the “inbred weirdo” Philip may have been working together on the murder of their parents.

NickAlind being shipped in the Lost Boys on Grimm

So Nick and Adalind (Ship Name “Nickalind???”) find themselves sharing that they are each other’s (Nick is Adalind’s first Grimm and Adalind is the first Wesen Nick saw woge). They later move out of Nick’s house (considering all the bad juju in that place, well done!) into a refurbished and heavily-secured warehouse (Nick can afford that on a detective’s salary?) and become bedmates (platonically, so far…) before the end of the episode.

Rosalee was kidnapped by a bunch of orphaned Wesen kids. It’s funny how one even tried to frighten here by woging. (You can tell Rosalee is not impressed.) Never fear, she was immediately rescued by the Scooby Gang led, of course, by her hubby Monroe and his Blutbad sense of smell (Am I the only one weirded out by how he obtained the scent necessary to track her down?) The kids, however, went out of the frying pan and into the fire by ending up back in the juvenile system under the clutches of a superintendent who’s in league with Whatever-Secret-Organization-Nick-Has-To-Fight-Off this season.

On a side note, we have confirmed that it’s Trubel who’s in the heavily guarded vault.  It remains to be seen if she will have a happy reunion with Nick and the rest of the Scooby Gang. (Please, god of TV, din’t let her turn evil, too!)

Is Eddie Mora a Baddie now in Limitless’ Side Effects May Include

This episode digressed from the case-of-the-week procedural format in a major way. Rebecca was impressing the FBI director as Naz‘s protegee during a sit-down type of war games situation while Brian was off investigating NZT trials while battling the drug’s side effects.

When I first saw Sands acting out as Eddie Mora‘s intellectual thug, I began to wonder if Eddie’s character has evolved from the good-guy in the Limitless movie to being the series’ resident big baddie. However, his appearance just as Brian’s battle with NZT’s side effects was taking a turn for the worse gave me some hope.

Bradley Cooper looks weird without his usual five o’clock shadow, though.

Annalise hits Two Birds and One Millstone in How to Get Away with Murder

This episode opens hot and heavy – as in, Laurel’s post-coital snooping among Frank‘s stuff after discovering he has a suitcase full of cash in a storage unit.

This episode’s case of the week concerns a trans woman who kills her abusive husband and exaggerates the crime scene to support her claim of self-defense. The case ends with Annalise wheeling and dealing got both of them off hook from the D. A. Through this case, we see some of Annalise’s hidden feelings about her husband, Sam, who may have also been abusive but she has also “let him win” too often.

Nate assisted his wife’s death but he still resents Annalise for the time he was in jail while his wife was at the hospital, leaving Annalise crying at his door.

The plot twists and hidden sides of the various characters keep on coming in How to Get Away with Murder.

After “Clear and Wesen Danger,” will Grimm’s Adalind get her hexenbiest powers back?

I’m really hooked on Grimm, the show that combines police procedurals and shape-shifting supernaturals. After last season’s finale which put an end to #HexenBitch Juliette‘s extended hissy fit via two arrows to the chest courtesy of TrubelNick and Adalind welcome their baby boy named after Nick’s mom, Kelly.

While I appreciate some semblance of normalcy between Adalind and Nick, I would welcome the return of Adalind’s hexenbiest powers but to be used for good this time.

Ichabod Crane goes on an awkward date on this week’s “Sleepy Hollow” episode

For a while, I was worried that Sleepy Hollow wouldn’t be renewed for a third season. I’m glad to see that Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills are back and still kickin’ ass!

One thing that the show has going for it is the chemistry between the two leads that is not translated as a romantic entanglement on-screen.

This week’s big baddie is the titular Red Lady from Carribee, a wasp-ish lady who sows the seeds of paranoia. She’s not so badass but she is the last fear (“of fear itself”) needed by Pandora to be able to activate her tree-portal to wherever. No doubt, she will be bitchin’ when she returns, but as Abbie says’ “Bring it on.”

After the debacle with #BoringKatrinaCrane who later evolved into #EvilKatrinaCrane, I’m glad to see that Ichabod trying to get back into the saddle with his (awkward) first date since his wife died (ie., was killed… by him… and rightfully so!). I have no clue how this thing with Zoe will turn out but as long she doesn’t become a #PsychoWitch or any other evil supernatural vixen, I’m fine with her (so far!).

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Crane!
