I was all for Naz going all tough and empowered during her meeting with the big bossess in Washington.
Until she was put under lock-and-key for treason (for funding terrorist when she waa actually negotiating the ransom of her kidnapped niece) and ADIC Johnson was called in to replace her temporarily. If you want people to be annoyed with a character, get this guy to play him.
Luckily, before her incarceration, she was able to mobilize Brian and Rebecca. Enter her daughter Ava.
I’m glad an episode was able to shed some light on Naz. And with the sparks that flew between Ava and Brian, we can expect to see Ava again sometime.
I took my folks here for a nice family dinner. I always say that Chinese restos are great for family dinners because the viands are served family style which encourage sharing and bonding. We ordered our favorite Chinese food:- Hot and Sour Soup (my mom says it helps with her colds)
– Yang Chow Fried Rice (is a visit to a Chinese resto complete without ordering Yang Chow?)
– Pork Ribs with Salt and Pepper (nicely seasoned)
– Beef Steak Chinese Style (very tender with a sweet-savory flavor)
– Pork Siomai
– Birthday Noodles
The flavors meshed well together. As the servings were large, even when our original party of five grew to seven, we left the place with full bellies. The food were reasonably priced, too (I spent less than P2,000).
The place is clean with bright red and white decor but not at all off-putting. The servers were polite and accommodating.

This episode is heavy on family, drawing parallels among the many issues that different sets of siblings have on each other. The trigger is Diggle‘s discovery that his brother, Andy, is alive and apparently one of Hive’s minions. Having extracted said brother from the organization with the help of #TeamArrow, it remains to be seen how he will deal with his errant sibling.
Oliver‘s sister, Thea, is feeling the return of her bloodlust but was able to discover that Damon Dark is a way for her to control it. Why she asks Malcolm Merlin, not her brother, for help I just don’t understand.
After getting a distress call from her former boss/lover Ray Palmer, Felicity, together with Team Arrow, went on Operation: Rescue Ray.
Saddled by guilt from leaving Ray in what turned out be his time of need and peril, Felicity started becoming hostile towards Oliver, feeling that she is losing herself in him. It’s a good thing her mom Donna was there to straighten her out. Whew! So far, my #HEA is safe (but for how long?).
By the way, there’s a new couple I’m shipping: Donna and Quentin Lance. They met in a bar when they were both convalescing on their children’s mishaps. I would like to see what grows from their meet-cute.
This resto is great if you have late night cravings for tapsilog or if you want to cap a night out with a hearty rice meal. Their Angus beef tapa is sliced very thinly – sukiyaki style – and marinated to come out flavorful and tender. You can also opt to get some local spiced vinegar to go with your tapsilog.
Check out my reviews of other Filipino restaurants and eateries in the Tomas Morato area:
While Ex with Benefits is about the TOTGA (The One That Got Away), what I found interesting are the different instances of gender dynamics:
- Adam, as a pre-eminent doctor, dangled his all-important endorsement for medrep Arki‘s product and she engaged in an “exwith benefits” arrangement with him.
- Scarlet, upon learning of her rival for the good doctor’s attentions, immediately denigrated Arki’s appearance sight unseen. For example, “Arkisha? Parang pangalan ng mataba!”
- All this sex in exchange for favors going on as if everything of value that a woman can give involves access to her body. The scene where the windows were closing on Arki right before such a scene was very disturbing.
That said, Ex with Benefits is entertaining, filled with #hugot lines and steamy scenes.
So the Monsters-of-the-Week that Team Witness Ichabod and Abbie have to face are (drumroll, please)… Norse berserkers!
They were sent by Nevins to retrieve Jenny who was infected by the shard last episode and is now manifesting mutant powers. But she still got some lip action with Joe.
The episode ends with the berserker baddies beaten but another new horror that “makes Pandora look like a homeroom teacher” has arrived, welcomed by no less than an under-the-spell Jenny.

Whew! I was worried for Oliver for a while there. But I must say, the cunning of the Keating 5 must be rubbing off in him.
Prior to that scene was a very quotable quote from Annalise after getting more recriminations from Nate: “You must decide whether you want to forgive me. But I won’t spread my legs as some sort of payment.”
In other news:
- Wes is really becoming a whiny drag, weighed down by his guilt over Sam’s death.
- Four couples do the dirty.
- The reveal of the night is that Catherine Hapstall and the “inbred weirdo” Philip may have been working together on the murder of their parents.
So Nick and Adalind (Ship Name “Nickalind???”) find themselves sharing that they are each other’s (Nick is Adalind’s first Grimm and Adalind is the first Wesen Nick saw woge). They later move out of Nick’s house (considering all the bad juju in that place, well done!) into a refurbished and heavily-secured warehouse (Nick can afford that on a detective’s salary?) and become bedmates (platonically, so far…) before the end of the episode.
Rosalee was kidnapped by a bunch of orphaned Wesen kids. It’s funny how one even tried to frighten here by woging. (You can tell Rosalee is not impressed.) Never fear, she was immediately rescued by the Scooby Gang led, of course, by her hubby Monroe and his Blutbad sense of smell (Am I the only one weirded out by how he obtained the scent necessary to track her down?) The kids, however, went out of the frying pan and into the fire by ending up back in the juvenile system under the clutches of a superintendent who’s in league with Whatever-Secret-Organization-Nick-Has-To-Fight-Off this season.
On a side note, we have confirmed that it’s Trubel who’s in the heavily guarded vault. It remains to be seen if she will have a happy reunion with Nick and the rest of the Scooby Gang. (Please, god of TV, din’t let her turn evil, too!)

Apparently, I have a very British sense of decorum – very strict and businesslike in public but very laidback among friends.
Quiz: What nationality are your manners?
I attended the 12th leg of Cruising Magazine’s Taste #TravelForFood road show here. I’ve only ever been at Fisher Mall once before and I’m glad to discover another great place to eat here since it’s so near my workplace.
The place is well lit and well laid out. The party which consisted of about 40 people were able to sit comfortably in tables of six. Each table has a grill at the center with which to grill the yakiniku.
Our sumptuous repast consisted of:
– Appetizers: Kani Salad and Spicy Tuna Maki (not too crazy about the maki, though; I prefer California maki). There was also an assortment of side dishes consisting of kimchi, achara and sauteed beans.
Mains: Japanese Style Beef Stew (quite a novelty for me – the broth was creamy and flavorful with tender bits of beef and ox tripe) and Special Assorted Barbecue Set (love the juicy and well-seasoned meats, however, I prefer to eat them sans the special sauce)
– Side: Japanese rice (not sticky enough for me)
The wait staff are approachable and accommodating although they seemed overwhelmed by the size of the group (or our appetites!) as some of the food took a while getting to us.
I look forward to sampling this resto’s other offerings in the future.

This episode digressed from the case-of-the-week procedural format in a major way. Rebecca was impressing the FBI director as Naz‘s protegee during a sit-down type of war games situation while Brian was off investigating NZT trials while battling the drug’s side effects.
When I first saw Sands acting out as Eddie Mora‘s intellectual thug, I began to wonder if Eddie’s character has evolved from the good-guy in the Limitless movie to being the series’ resident big baddie. However, his appearance just as Brian’s battle with NZT’s side effects was taking a turn for the worse gave me some hope.
Bradley Cooper looks weird without his usual five o’clock shadow, though.
Hard-talkin’ coach-on-the- brains Liv Moore giving down-on-the-dumps Major Lilywhite a pep talk is a sight to behold!
