McDo-snackin’ with the fam

A few days ago, I received a very welcome piece of news: McDonalds Shakes are back and they’re here to stay!

I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed this childhood treat.

That got me thinking: I have been working hard lately, putting in a lot of hours in telecons and drafting presentations. Hubby, too, has been pretty busy with his job, while the kiddos have been dealing with their adjustments to distance learning. Hmm… don’t we all deserve a reward?

So I took out my phone and a few taps later, my treats for the fam were on their merry way to our doorstep.

A little taste of our favorite fast food every now and then can’t hurt, right?

Check them out:

Big Mac Meal (Php207 with medium Coke and medium fries). Oh, yes… the 🎶 two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame-seed bun.🎶 For those who are below forty years of age, one of McDonald’s early advertising campaigns in the country was hinged on listing the ingredients of the Big Mac in a TVC that had a whole lot of airtime. There’s no surprise, then, that many of my generation know this list by heart, and that some, like my Hubby, would consider it his go-to McDo order, inseparable from the fries and Coke.

Cheeseburger (Php62). For those of us – like me and my little boy – who can’t handle the size and the sheer commitment of tummy space that a Big Mac requires, this burger made with ground beef topped with cheese, onions, pickle slice, ketchup and mustard in a toasted bun will have to do.

McNuggets (Php123). Six pieces of battered and deep fried chicken chunks that my daughter just can’t resist.

Apple Pie (Php37). Apple pieces stewed cinnamon encased in a flaky crust then deep-fried. (Because there’s always room for dessert!)

McDo Shake (Php94 for medium). Ah, the catalyst for this snackin’ adventure. McDonald’s creamy soft-serve ice cream flavored with your choice between chocolate and strawberry syrup. My childhood treat is back and that is goooooood!

After the fam made short work of these fast food items, we were ready to tackle our work again.

“Kitakits sa bahay” with McDonald’s delivery

Have you seen McDonald’s new ad “Kitakits?”

It shows snippets of life that still goes on despite the raging pandemic: the shy smiles from behind the necessary face masks, greeting each other by shaking feet instead of hands, eating out together while remaining apart, and getting used to spending time indoors, all as part of the New Normal.

My fam and I are also adjusting to the new way of being, enjoying our extended time together at home.

And while we’re both busy working from home, Hubby and I still try to squeeze in some bits of time with kiddos within our workday: our own “kitakits.”

On one such occasion, I ordered some of our favorites from McDonald’s for us to munch on during our afternoon break:

Quarter Pounder with Cheese. Hubby’s big appetite needs a big burger and this one fits the bill. A quarter-pound beef patty topped with slices of onions, pickles and melty cheese in a sesame seed bun.

McChicken Sandwich. My go-to order: a crispy fillet of chicken slathered with mayonnaise and sandwiched in a toasted sesame seed bun. It should have come with shredded ice lettuce but I guess someone left that out. Oh,well… 😒

Chicken McNuggets. For the kiddos, we got juicy and crispy ten- and six-piece nuggets accompanied by barbecue sauce. They just can’t seem to stop biting into these yummies!

French Fries. The fam’s favorite fries made with stripes straight cut from whole potatoes, deep-fried to a golden brown, salted and best enjoyed hot and crisp from the fryer.

The missing iceberg lettuce from my McChicken Sandwich, I’m not to crazy about. My enjoyable time with the fam? Luv ko ‘to!

Celebrities give us all the feels with McDonald’s Kita-kits song

They’re missing their McDonald’s favorites just like you

Life as we know it has changed in just a short span of time. While leisure trips, meet-ups and celebrations are limited at the moment, McDonald’s, with its recently launched Kita-Kits with McDo campaign, showed that spontaneous feel-good moments in the new normal are still very much possible!

Bringing a message of positivity, their Kita-Kits video reminds us that though we may not be able to experience our old routines, new memories can still be made anytime, anywhere with McDonald’s.

The video is set against the backdrop of the iconic song Kita-kits sa McDo originally sung by Sharon Cuneta, adding a hint of nostalgia that makes you look back at your favorite McDonald’s moments. Iconic as it is, celebrities Alden Richards, Maine Mendoza, Michael V., and Judy Ann Santos have caught the LSS bug and have shared their own rendition of the song on social media. You can check out the video of your favorite celebrities singing along to this the heart-warming tune on Facebook.

McDonald’s Breaded Chicken Fillets are now available in frozen Cook-It-Yourself packs!

In case you missed it last week, McDonald’s announced the availability of select frozen food packs that allowed their customers to prepare and enjoy their McDonald’s favorites at the comfort of their home.

“We are making McDonald’s Cook-It-Yourself Packs available for sale to help consumers have access to food they can cook and enjoy at home. By making these frozen products available through our McDonald’s Drive-Thru or for Take Out, we make it safe and convenient for our consumers as well,” said Margot B. Torres, Managing Director of McDonald’s Philippines.

Today, McDonald’s is extending the Cook-It-Yourself lineup with the inclusion of the Breaded Chicken Fillets, the main ingredient of crowd favorite orders like the McCrispy Chicken Fillet with Rice and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Cook-It-Yourself Breaded Chicken Fillets are now available in packs of 15 pcs for P315 at participating McDonald’s stores through Drive-Thru and Take-Out!
