It has been part of the area’s growth for over 30 years—initially as Manila Galleria and for the past 20 years under the Holiday Inn brand under management of the Intercontinental Hotels Group. Its prime location is a significant advantage, situated just 500 meters from the Ortigas MRT station and directly connected to Robinsons Galleria Mall. This connection offers easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment, making it a convenient choice for both business travelers and tourists.

The Suite Experience

Our stay was in a newly refreshed two-bedroom suite overlooking ADB Avenue. The suite was fully air-conditioned and had high-speed Wi-Fi, ensuring comfort and connectivity. The main bedroom featured a queen bed with an ensuite bathroom, complete with a marble bathtub, walk-in shower, and toilet.

The second bedroom had two single beds and a separate bathroom with a walk-in shower and toilet. Essential toiletries like hand and body soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner were provided, with additional items available upon request to support IHG’s sustainability initiatives.

The beds were incredibly comfortable, dressed in fresh, crisp white linens and provided with a selection of soft and firm pillows. It was tempting to stay in bed all day, thanks to their plush comfort.

The living room was spacious, with an L-shaped sofa, a couch, a LED TV, and a desk workspace equipped with a phone. The small galley kitchen had a faucet and a mini-refrigerator, while the dining area could seat six, making it perfect for in-room dining for a small group.

Dining Options

For dinner on our first night, we preferred to have a late meal and stay in the comfort of our room. Fortunately the hotel offers 24/7 room service with a menu accessible via a QR code that features a wide range of tasty appetizers, salads, soups, and cuisines, including Asian, Indian, healthy options, pizzas, pastas, and traditional Filipino dishes. This convenience allowed us to enjoy our delicious dinner in privacy and freedom without leaving our suite.

We had our morning meal at the hotel’s FAB restaurant, which is open daily for breakfast from 6 am to 10 am. Its buffet spread included freshly baked bread and pastries, local favorites like puto, taho, tuyo, and dilis, as well as pancakes, French toast, eggs cooked to order, sausages, crispy bacon, vegetarian options, salads, cold cuts, fresh fruits, and yogurt. The variety and quality of the food were impressive, catering to all tastes and preferences.

We also had exclusive access to the Summit Lounge, where we enjoyed complimentary bites during afternoon tea while enjoying the view.

Activities and Amenities

One of the highlights of our stay was the easy access to various activities and amenities. The 24/7 fitness center and outdoor swimming pool provided great options for staying active and relaxing.

The direct connection to Robinsons Galleria Mall was particularly convenient. I managed to do some window-shopping there. Although we didn’t have time for them, other activities that can be enjoyed nearby include a visit to the historic EDSA Shrine and outdoor walking and biking during No-Car Sunday along Emerald Avenue.

General Experience

The hotel staff at the Holiday Inn Manila Galleria were exceptional. They were friendly, helpful, and prompt in responding to our requests. Many were even willing to pose for pictures and take group shots for our social media posts, adding a personal touch to our stay.

The overall atmosphere of the hotel was welcoming and relaxing. Our suite was a comfortable haven where we could unwind, chat, and enjoy each other’s company. The combination of the luxurious suite, excellent dining options, and convenient amenities made our staycation truly enjoyable.

I would rate my staycation experience at the Holiday Inn Manila Galleria as top-notch. The comfortable suite, delicious food, and excellent service made it a memorable weekend, especially because I shared it with my foodie friends. As part of my daughter’s birthday celebration, I decided to treat the fam to a buffet lunch at StrEATs, currently a trending culinary destination since it opened earlier this year due to its painstakingly curated array of delectable cuisines and affordable buffet rates.

As luck would have it, my family’s visit to this restaurant for my daughter’s birthday celebration coincided with the restaurant’s Fourth of July themed buffet, Taste of American.

From July 4 to 7, StrEATs at ibis Styles Manila Araneta transformed into a vibrant celebration of American cuisine, blending the flavors of classic American dishes with the festive spirit of the 4th of July. The lively atmosphere, complete with patriotic decorations, upbeat music and American-themed fare, made it an unforgettable dining experience.

American cuisine holds a special place in Filipino hearts, with its hearty flavors and comfort foods resonating deeply with local palates. For instance, Hubby, the kids and I all grew up munching on American snacks and dishes, alongside our Pinoy ulams, of course. StrEATs embraced this cultural connection by offering a Taste of American buffet that celebrated both American traditions and Filipino warmth.

At a recent media conference held at Conrad Manila, I had the chance to try a more immersive, table-top boardgame version of Play for Life: A Game of Choices. Together with fellow attendees, I chose characters (such as a teacher or a BPO agent) and rolled the dice which led to life decisions (such as having a baby or investing in education) or circumstances (such as medical emergencies) that have either short-term or lasting impact on my finances which, in turn, affect how I get to achieve a financial goal. The experience was enlightening, demonstrating how financial decisions impact our lives. Through the gameplay, I gleaned insights from my decisions as well as from fellow players.

During this event, Sun Life unveiled its latest digital video commercial featuring celebrity ambassadors Piolo Pascual, Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli, and Matteo Guidicelli playing the board game. They also shared their experiences and learnings from the game and from their real-life experiences, making the event both informative and enjoyable.

ChildFund Philippines targets to help 5 million children and families by 2026

In a heartwarming display of commitment to the future of Filipino children, ChildFund Philippines recently unveiled their ambitious plan to positively impact the lives of 5 million children and families by 2026. Announced during their “Connection for Impact” event, this initiative is part of ChildFund International’s larger goal of reaching 100 million children and families globally by 2030.

The event underscored the importance of collaboration across sectors, featuring insightful discussions from children and youth advocate groups including The Civil Society Network for Education Reforms, the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, UNICEF, and the Psychosocial Support and Children’s Rights Resource Center. These organizations highlighted the urgent need for united efforts in creating a sustainable and secure future for Filipino youth.

Scaling Up for Greater Impact

Anand Vishwakarma, the Country Director of ChildFund Philippines, articulated the organization’s vision: “We aim to scale up our efforts to address the evolving challenges faced by Filipino children and youth. Together with our partners, we are driven by the urgent need to create broader and more sustainable impacts through collaborative efforts.”

In 2023 alone, ChildFund’s initiatives reached 21 provinces, 35 cities and municipalities, and 365 barangays. Working alongside 11 local partners, they supported a remarkable total of 54 million children, youth, and adults.

Holistic Support from Early Childhood to Adulthood

ChildFund’s approach is comprehensive, focusing on key areas such as education, health, skill development, livelihoods, child protection, and climate action. From ensuring that children under five are healthy and secure, to providing education that builds personal agency, and equipping young adults with skills for employment, the organization supports Filipino children through all stages of life.

Its Project Advancement of Children’s Inclusive Education through Virtual Engagement (ACHIEVE) has already made strides by supporting 610 learners with disabilities through virtual engagement and developing an e-learning platform that enhanced children’s participation. Additionally, neighborhood play programs have been established in remote communities to ensure early childhood care and development. The youth are also guided in making informed decisions about sexual and reproductive health, and through the Job Opportunity Building for Youth (JOB for Youth program), 396 young people have received training in industry and technopreneurship.

Empowering Youth in Disaster Preparedness

ChildFund’s Children and Youth-led Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CYDRM) program engages children and youth in disaster risk management and climate action, promoting their active involvement in creating safer communities. Project Relief Allocation Management, Distribution and Monitoring (RAMDAM) further enhances transparency in disaster relief through innovative, technology-based interventions.

ChildFund Philippines launched the #FunOfAKind campaign, inviting everyone to contribute their “time, talent, and treasure” to support their programs. This campaign aims to:
