Top 12 Dishes to Savor this August as Cafe Ilang-Ilang Celebrates the Flavors of Western Visayas

Ernest Hemingway once cited The Manila Hotel as “the perfect representation of the city, if not the country’s resilience, vitality, versatility and hospitality.”

This certainly is true as the iconic Grand Dame not only evokes the prestige and nostalgia of the old city, but, as its current president Joey Lina put it, it also “is a repository of culture and history.”

From its humble beginnings, this homegrown restaurant has grown into a culinary destination that captures the essence of Antipolo’s flavors.

Savoring Antipolo: A Culinary Adventure

My flavor journey with Hubby at Marison’s began after we had our car blessed at Antipolo Church. Yearning to taste the essence of Antipolo, I immediately thought of revisiting Marison’s, a place I had previously fallen in love with. The Robinsons Antipolo branch, conveniently situated on the way down from the church back to the metro. This branch is located outside the main mall, offering both indoor and al fresco dining options. The restaurant’s simple yet welcoming ambiance allows the focus to remain on the star of the show—the food.

A Memorable Feast: Exploring Marison’s Signature Dishes

Our meal featured an array of delectable dishes that left a lasting impression.

The Bagnet Chips (Php240) caught our attention with their thin strips of pork belly, fried to a satisfying crispiness and served with a vinegar-based dipping sauce and local salsa. It was the perfect appetizer to kickstart our taste adventure.
