Chef P Premium Buko Pie: A Modern Twist on a Filipino Classic

In the heart of Filipino culture, pasalubong (souvenir treats) is more than just a gift—it’s a way to share the flavors of home with loved ones. Among these beloved treats, buko pie stands out as a true favorite. And when it comes to buko pies, Chef P Premium Buko Pie is making waves with its fresh take on this classic delicacy.

If you love traditional Filipino sweets, you’ll want to try Chef P’s buko pie creations. Imagine sinking your teeth into a slice of buttery, coconut-filled goodness—each bite bursting with flavor. That’s exactly what you get with Chef P Premium Buko Pies.

The Story Behind Chef P Premium Buko Pie

Chef P buko pies are a product of Picks Food Products Trading, a company that started as Mang Muring Pasalubong back in 2014. Originally, they had small shops along the busy highways of SLEX and NLEX, where travelers would stop to grab a taste of home. Over time, the company evolved, rebranding itself in 2022 as Picks Food Products Trading. This change marked their shift into the digital space, making their delicious pasalubong treats more accessible to everyone.

Despite the transformation, Picks Food Products Trading remains committed to the traditions that started it all. They still source the finest ingredients and work with local artisans to ensure every product reflects the rich flavors of Filipino cuisine. Chef P buko pies are a perfect example of this dedication, blending traditional recipes with a touch of modern flair.

Exploring the Flavorful Variants

Chef P Premium Buko Pie is best known for its classic version. The Classic Buko Pie (Php450) stays true to its roots, with a rich coconut filling encased in a golden, flaky crust. It’s the perfect balance of sweetness and texture, making it a go-to treat for anyone craving that familiar Filipino taste.

But Chef P doesn’t stop there. They also offer the Ube Halaya Buko Pie (Php550), which combines the creamy goodness of coconut with the rich flavor of ube (purple yam). This variant adds a unique twist to the traditional buko pie, giving you two iconic Filipino flavors in one delicious slice.

I haven’t yet had the chance to try the new Double Choco Buko Pie (Php550) and Honeydew Buko Pie (Php550), but they sound like intriguing options. The Double Choco Buko Pie promises a decadent blend of coconut and chocolate, while the Honeydew Buko Pie offers a refreshing twist with its light, fruity honeydew flavor. These new variants are sure to appeal to those looking for a new take on the classic buko pie.

Why Chef P Buko Pie Stands Out

In my experience, what sets Chef P’s buko pies apart is their commitment to quality and flavor. The crust is perfectly flaky, and the filling is always fresh and flavorful. The Ube Halaya Buko Pie, in particular, blew me away with its rich blend of coconut and ube. Even my family and friends, who’ve tried different versions of buko pie over the years, couldn’t stop raving about Chef P’s take on this classic treat.

Pasalubong from the “Home of the Original Cheesebread” – LA Bakeshop in Pampanga

One of the highlights of the Pampanga Food Crawl that I joined with my fellow foodies is our stop at LA Bakeshop for my first taste of its cheesebread.

This bakery-slash-cafe has been baking this singular artisanal pastry since 1985, further solidifying the Kapampangan’s reputation for culinary ingenuity.

After several lambings, my boss took advantage of one of her trips home to Pampanga to bring me a welcome pasalubong: a box of cheesebread and Spanish bread from LA Bakeshop.

One bite of LA Bakeshop’s famous cheesebread will surely have you craving for more. When served while still warm from the oven, its sweet milky scent will get you salivating. Its cheesy crust gives way to soft and milky bread underneath. It’s best enjoyed when paired with hot coffee or chocolate for breakfast or merienda.

LA Bakeshop’s Spanish bread, on the other hand, is soft with a buttery sugar filling. It has been a merienda favorite since childhood.

The fam and I enjoyed this box of goodies for our afternoon snack or post-dinner dessert!

LA Bakeshop’s cheesebreads sell for Php7 apiece or Php210 for a box of thirty pieces, while its Spanish bread sells of Php9 apiece or Php270 for a box of thirty pieces. The best deal is to get a box of fifteen cheesebread pieces and fifteen Spanish bread pieces for Php240.
