Boost your kids’ digital, creative skills with Basecamp’s Design Trail

Kids today are considered as digital natives, making them more perceptive to developments in technology. But as it becomes even more advanced and fast-paced, it must be a challenge to catch up, especially if you are a busy parent. This is where Basecamp, Power Mac Center (PMC)’s official training provider, can step in.

Armed with a mission to equip kids, teens, and young adults with the digital skills critical in today’s modern world, Basecamp’s “Design Trail” and “Vision Hub” workshop series offer fun and age-appropriate digital courses on animation, game design, web design, video editing, and app development. Design Trail for Kids also has non-digital courses on drawing, painting, and science experiments. Enrollees in the Visayas and Mindanao region will also be provided with modules written in Cebuano. Courses will start onApril 11, 2023 and will be ongoing all year long.

“Parents always want the best for their kids, and Basecamp is here to help them provide the best digital learning experience. Just like a real base camp, we serve as a storehouse of food for the imagination and equipment needed by kids to survive the digital wilderness and, figuratively speaking, to scale the mountains ahead. Our courses are conducted by expert mentors who can readily address kids’ natural inquisitiveness and ensure their holistic development,” said Maleng Raysag, Basecamp Head.

Basecamp prepares youngsters to be the Philippines’ future animation artists, programmers, and filmmakers. It harnesses the power of Apple technology and equips workshop participants with the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to succeed in their chosen path or simply enjoy exploring their talents and interests. In particular, they can improve the following skills:

Storytelling with iPad

Kids who love telling tales will learn to express their ideas through comics brought to life by technology after completing the Design Trail courses “The Art of Comics” and “2D Animation using iPad.” Designed for those aged 7-10 years old, these courses will strengthen their visual communication skills through creating new characters from basic lines, shapes, and colors.

Older teens and young adults aged 16-21 years old, meanwhile, can enroll in Vision Hub’s “3D Creation and Animation for Beginners,” which takes it to the next level through animation techniques and software tools actually used in the industry.

Programming and STEM skills

Today, everything is run by technology, which means that we will need more programmers in the foreseeable future. If your child is constantly immersed in game platforms such as Roblox and Minecraft, might as well get them a more structured training course that can teach them how to build their own Roblox game and publish it on Roblox Studio. They can also familiarize themselves with Minecraft for Education, which is a great tool for learning that builds science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills, unleashes creativity, and engages students in collaboration and problem-solving.

Kids can learn the discipline involved in creating their own games through various software and programming languages, while teens and young adults can hone their skills in web design, video editing, and app development. These digital courses are conducted either online or face- to-face and available year-round so your kids can fit them in their free time.

Non-digital skills

Design Trail for Kids also offers courses designed to develop analog skills such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and manga-creation. In addition, young scientists are invited to discover scientific concepts through hands-on activities and inquiry-based learning.

These non-digital courses are conducted exclusively in person, in order to increase children’s appreciation for the value of hands-on work and imagination. The Basecamp training center is located at 3/L Glorietta 5, Ayala Center, Makati City.

Design Trail classes are conducted in the course of 4 days, for 1.5hours each session. Digital courses are priced at P2,500 per student per course for online sessions, and P3,000 for face-to-face classes. Non-digital courses can be availed at P3,000 each. Vision Hub’s online courses are priced at P5,500 per head, per course, conducted over 5 days per course, for 15 hours in total.

Nokia Personal Audio is back with two new wireless earphones, and partners with growing online store Techroom to offer the newest Nokia TWS during the 4.4 big sale.

With the success of the Nokia Personal Audio E-series last year, HOLO Space prepares for the upcoming 4.4 sale and adds the Nokia E3110 and Nokia E3100 plus to its growing portfolio, which carefully hand-picked based on customers’ feedback.

P.E.A. – new consideration in offering new earphones

The fans have spoken! Aside from the features – Pocketability, Ergonomics, and Affordability are the new essential considerations for people to purchase a new pair of wireless earphones.

“There are so many wireless earbuds in the market right now that basically have the same features and designs.” says Igue Bonifacio, Lead – Nokia Personal Audio Philippines. “Through social listening, our team learned that the market would want a comfortable, lightweight, and fashionable piece of tech. For the past months, we’ve been proactively asking for feedback about our products, and through our customers’ inputs we were able to handpick new Nokia Personal Audio devices that the market would love. Even though there are only few new models to be launched, our team is really excited to focus in offering these two aesthetic yet functional wireless earbuds to our fans.” he added.

It’s a pastel summer with Nokia Personal Audio

Don’t worry! For those who like the classics, other colors are also available that will fit every kind of style and personality.

The Nokia E3110 looks classy in crisp White, and funky in pastel-y Pink, while the Nokia E3100 plus is available in the sharp-looking triple black color way.

Even if these models are focused on aesthetics, they are still equipped with balanced and useful features that make it perfect daily drivers. Don’t be intimidated though, these new gems are incredibly affordable!

Coffee world regains momentum with new trends taking hold of its exciting comeback

The coffee industry could not be expected to escape the global pandemic unscathed. It definitely went through and experienced setbacks. But as the world begins to reign over the effects of the crisis, the coffee world regains momentum with new trends taking hold of its exciting comeback.

The return to some semblance of normal made customers want authentic, high-quality blends and coffee beverages to be delivered to their doorsteps. Bo’s Coffee has been aggressively giving their customers exactly that in the last few years.

Ready-to-drink coffee all ready to take on the market

In 2018, when ready to drink coffee became one of the fastest growing market segments in Europe, Bo’s Coffee has already been working on its ICED BREWS. With RTD coffee known to be a healthier alternative to sodas, an overwhelming response to the new drink is helping fuel this market’s premium status.

Three variants are available today: Iced Brew Mocha, Iced Brew Macchiato and Iced Brew Latte already in stores and available for delivery. One can also avail of an assortment of flavored Iced Brew bottled coffee thoughtfully crafted and served in a glass bottle with its Iced Brew Sampler available online.

Specialty coffees is becoming increasingly, well, special

While most consumers still buy mainstream coffee blends, there’s quite a demand for high- quality coffee. Some reports align with socially conscious consumers looking for real experiences of brewing coffee, and will pay a premium for a good social story.

Bo’s Coffee has always been a proponent of the local coffee industry that every cup of our coffee celebrates and supports Philippine Coffee, partnering and adopting various coffee communities in the Philippine highlands where the best of Philippine Coffee is grown.

Such is the story behind the team of Kalsada Coffee, harvesting the season’s bounty of its single origin 100% Arabica Caliking Beans from the rich landscape of Sitio Kisbong in Atok, Benguet. Bo’s Coffee puts the spotlight on Philippine Coffee and prides itself of flavor profiles found in the Philippine highlands. Beans are sourced from the mountains of Sagada, Mt. Kitanglad, Mt. Matutum, Mt. Apo, and of course, Benguet where Caliking Beans will be wrapping up its harvest by the women-led team of Kalsada Coffee.

Coffee as a subscription

A burgeoning industry, the coffee subscription plan is where Bo’s Coffee sends coffee to your doorsteps. While this concept has been around for a few years, the lockdowns brought it forward as coffee fans looked for ways to get their coffee fix while stuck at home.

When one subscribes to Bo’s Coffee Subscription, receive a box delivery every first day of the month. The box contains 2 bags of Coffee Beans and a welcome kit detailing coffee origins, tasting notes, grind size, and brewing guide. Enjoy one flavor of coffee beans every month in this order: Atok, Ampucao, Sagada, Kitanglad, Matutum, and Apo. So, by the time the subscription needs to renew, you will have tasted the best coffee beans the Philippines can offer.

Bo’s Coffee opens its biggest Philippine store in war-torn Marawi

Bo’s Coffee opens the biggest Philippine store in Marawi City in Mindanao staking a long-term commitment to the city’s post-war rehabilitation.

The grand 250-seater café is set to serve its signature coffee and favorites in the Philippine’s southern regions intending to translate these famously rich and homegrown flavors into warm hugs and doses of hope to a people continuing to rebuild Marawi.

Bo’s Coffee Marawi

With a whopping 882.56sqm floor space, the store concept and design carefully took into consideration and weaved in Marawi’s notable sense of connectedness to its community that is rich in spiritual and cultural histories. Inspirations were taken from the Sarimanok, the Malong and the Torogan House.

The legendary Sarimanok, a ubiquitous symbol of Maranao art lends its colors to the interiors with a subtle, playful approach. The fabric on the ceiling and walls instead of the usual furniture cover uses the Malong, the traditional garment of mainland Mindanao. The Torogan house traditionally symbolizing high social status, is reflected in the ceiling and bar counters in a modernized design approach. All these start and end with the 360-degree panoramic view of Marawi City.

Bo’s Coffee Marawi

While happiness is assured in a cup of Bo’s Coffee even in the direst of post-war situations, the brand’s presence in Marawi more importantly ensures the provision of employment and business opportunities in the area for a long-term period. In helping Marawi churn its economy, Bo’s Coffee provides its people long-term livelihood aside from world-class coffee experience.

For 27 years, Bo’s Coffee has promised its market delicious and homegrown products and it has been able to achieve such promise because of the richness and diversity of resources all over the Philippines. But in times of war and calami<es, the communities that serve as gatekeepers to these resources take the brunt of the damage and deserve long-term support from all sectors of society that get to use these resources.

Chef Jessie launches Hapag Movement Menu to support program against involuntary hunger

Renowned Filipino chef Jessie Sincioco is helping feed the hungry in a whole new way.

Chef Jessie, a top chef who has made meals for global dignitaries, has launched the Hapag Movement Menu, which includes four set meals that patrons may enjoy while also helping address involuntary hunger.

The special menu is part of Sincioco’s commitment to the Hapag Movement, a Globe-led community program that aims to alleviate involuntary hunger through supplemental feeding and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The meal sets, which include a salad, soup, main course, dessert and hot drink, are available for lunch at P1,200 and dinner at P1,500 at Sincioco’s well-loved restaurant, Chef Jessie Rockwell Club in Makati. For every meal served, half of the proceeds will be donated to the Hapag Movement.

“I salute Globe for this timely and much-needed movement for the whole country.  We know very well that hunger is a reality here. We make it a point to give back whenever we can. That’s how we came up with the Hapag Movement menu. This way, our diners can support the advocacy,” said the chef.

The Hapag Movement Menu features a healthy selection of salads for starters and a variety of Filipino and fusion main dishes, from the familiar yet elevated beef morcon and caldereta to fish fillet florentine and baked parmesan-crusted chicken.

In strengthening her commitment to the Hapag Movement, Sincioco also said she would invite top chefs from the Philippines and abroad to be part of the movement, as well as enlist the help of neighboring restaurants in Rockwell to further the advocacy.

“When I learned about this credible and realistic movement, I did not hesitate or think twice about helping out. Let us all do our part in making this movement a smashing success,” she said.

Chef Jessie

Chef Jessie has cooked and created many dishes for world leaders, big movers in the business industry, well-known personalities, and even the Pope. But what she finds most fulfilling is providing food for the most marginalized in society.

Chef Jessie supports the Hapag Movement through her company’s membership at the Rotary Club of Makati Business District (RCMBD), which recently signed a four-year partnership with Globe to raise funds for the Hapag Movement. Her Mana Cuisine Corporation is among the earliest corporate members of Rotary to support the undertaking.

“We are excited to have Chef Jessie on board as we continue our fight against hunger in the Philippines. We are grateful for her commitment to find ways to raise funds, including the special Hapag Movement menu. We  look forward to expanding the Hapag Movement globally through enlisting a global network of chefs for the initiative,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer at the Globe Group.

RCMBD earlier pledged to raise P10 million in funds for the Hapag Movement through various initiatives involving individual members and corporations. By making this commitment, the Rotary chapter has become one of Hapag Movement’s most dedicated fundraising partners.

Globe leverages partnerships to raise funds and deliver critical support to affected families. The program aims to rally Filipinos behind a collective effort to feed the hungry and provide empowering livelihood training, as an estimated 15 million Filipinos continue to suffer from involuntary hunger.

The first-ever pocket studio device in the industry, the vivo V27 Series, now officially released

One of the top smartphone manufacturers in the Philippines, vivo, has formally introduced the newest model in its V line-up, the vivo V27 Series. The Aura Portrait Algorithm, a first-of-its-kind technology in the market, is featured in this new flagship smartphone and will up customers’ mobile photography game by putting a studio-level experience directly in their hands.

The vivo V27 5G and vivo V27e are the two models available in this new lineup. Fans may pre-order the vivo V27e from March 22 through March 29 on the company’s official online store, while they can do the same for the vivo V27 5G from April 10 through April 16.

With the vivo V27 Series, branded The Aura Portrait Master, the company urges its followers to project their best aura at all times and in any location.

Easy Way to Take Studio-Quality Photographs

The vivo V27 Series is jam-packed with a fresh innovation in smartphone image technology, just like earlier V series handsets that offer top-of-the-line camera features. The Aura Portrait Algorithm technology, vivo’s most recent innovation, is present in both variations of the V27 Series. vivo’s answer to address all three facets of the light and imaging processing journey is this first-in-industry feature. The first is the Aura Light, a built-in ring light that acts as an additional light source while producing a smoother and more refined effect than the typical phone camera flash.

vivo V27 Launch
vivo V27 Launch

The 50MP OIS Ultra Sensing primary camera, a first in the V Series history of vivo, is the second component of this camera system, particularly in the vivo V27 5G edition. The ultra-large 1/1.56″ sensor size of this flagship sensor allows 145 percent more light intake for a stronger picture quality even in dim lighting conditions. To capture HD quality and vibrant photographs, the V27e variant’s 64MP OIS Ultra Sensing Camera and Super Night Vision feature are available.

Last but not least, this upgrade features vivo’s complete and exclusive line of Portrait Algorithms, which perfectly synchronize hardware and software. The vivo V27 Series’ Aura Portrait Algorithm function, which intelligently adjusts the lighting to the scene – whether day or night – to capture studio-quality portraits, is completed by all three of these elements.

Vlogging Made Easier and More Fun

Up until you get home and realize your images are shaky and fuzzy, great excursions are some of the best times to vlog. The vivo V27 Series, supported by the EIS+OIS Dual Ultra Stabilization function, can help you avoid this accident. Even without additional equipment like selfie sticks and gimbals, this imaging technology enables users to take the most steady video recordings possible.

vivo V27 Launch
vivo V27 Launch

With the help of the vivo V27 5G’s 50MP Eye AF Vlogging camera and the vivo V27e’s 32MP Vlogging lens, vivo also made sure that users could take high-quality films with either the back or the front lens.

Plus, vivo enables its users to produce more creative videos worth-sharing on social media through the vivo V27 Series’ Microfilm feature. This serves as a one stop solution where users can edit vlogs with just a few clicks, access 26 effect templates for free, use built-in professional standard video enhancement software, and enjoy a hassle-free vlog making experience.

Premium Design without Compromising Comfort

The series features fresh colorways that are simple to match to consumers’ individual tastes. The vivo V27 5G variant exudes sophistication with its Emerald Green color scheme, which has been enhanced with the company’s patented photochromic 2.0 technology design. This technology is now more responsive to light, has a faster color-changing process than its predecessor, and is a vivo trademark.

vivo V27 Launch
vivo V27 Launch

The vivo V27e, on the other hand, comes in two striking colorways: Glory Black combined with the sparkling fluorite AG effect for a delicate and opulent finish, and the eye-catching Lavender Purple coloring made possible by vivo’s photolithography technology to generate its dazzling peacock feathers pattern.

In addition to the color schemes of the vivo V27 Series, both models have a sleek and comfy frame. The vivo V27 5G has a 7.36mm 3D-Curved Screen, making it the thinnest curved screen in the history of the vivo V Series.

Powerful Flagship Performance

Inside the vivo V27 5G’s slim and compact body is a MediaTek D7200 4nm chipset that supports Dual-Mode 5G and Dual 5G Standby to balance performance and power consumption. Along with a powerful processor, the vivo V27 Series offers a bigger update with the help of vivo’s Extended RAM 3.0. With this technology,  vivo V27 5G’s 12GB RAM and vivo V27e’s 8GB RAM can support up to 8GB extension that allows multiple and large-scale apps to smoothly run in the background simultaneously. Both variants are also packed with 256GB ROM so users can store as many files as they want.

vivo V27 Series also takes users’ productivity to the next level with its all-day battery which has a doubled life span that can handle up to 1,600 charge cycles. It is also boosted with a 66W FastCharge feature to quickly recharge the phone’s power from 0 to 50 percent in just 19 minutes.

Pricing and Availability

Ben&Ben, Zack Tabudlo, Ebe Dancel and more to headline Zark’s Fest 2023

After a hugely successful debut in 2019, Zark’s Fest returns this summer with their biggest offering in live music and comfort grub.

Presented and produced by Zark’s Burgers, a popular burger joint in the Philippines, and organized by GNN Entertainment Productions, the hybrid festival promises to treat its patrons with an exciting music lineup, more inclusive programming, a dedicated space for lifestyle, crafts, and arts merchants, and most especially, a hearty serving of American comfort food, the Zark’s way.

Zark’s Fest 2023 is happening on May 13, 2023, at Circuit Makati Event Grounds. Headlining the festival are the award-winning and best-selling Filipino band Ben&Ben and 2021/2022’s most-streamed solo artist Zack Tabudlo. The Manila-based food and music festival are also set to feature some of the most prominent names in the local music industry, including Ebe Dancel, Urbandub, Sandwich, The Itchyworms, BINI, Kiyo, SOS, Autotelic, Any Name’s Okay, Lola Amour, Hey June!, and Eli & Six The Northstar.

“We’re coming out stronger this year with a more diverse lineup and activities,” says Zark’s Burgers CEO ZarkVarona. “Make sure to pack your sunscreen as Zark’s Fest brings a festive experience in the best possible way. We’re scaling up our game with headline-worthy music representing various genres and demos, and we’re also holding the event in a bigger, outdoor venue that allows people to move freely around the site and celebrate food, arts, and crafts with their family and friends. What we have is something game-changing and special, and I hope more people will get to experience that.”

This year’s edition ups the ante of the festival format by doubling down on the experience with fair-themed booths and a more family-friendly vibe. “Our goal is to create a safe space where everyone is welcomed and included,” Varona explains. “Hopefully with Zark’s Fest, we’ll be able to deliver a music-filled destination for people from all walks of life.”

Tickets to Zark’s Fest will go on sale, starting Monday, March 13 at 12 noon at this site with tickets priced at:

  • VIP (P2,500): Express lane, dedicated restroom, 1 free drink, exclusive VIP area near the stage, Zarkada kit
