Two seasons of Doom Patrol to premiere exclusively on HBO GO

What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stranger. The entire first season and first three episodes of the second season of the HBO Max Original series Doom Patrol, which reimagines one of DC’s strangest groups of super heroes, will be available exclusively on HBO GO from Saturday, 27 June. A new episode of the second season will be released weekly every Friday.

Each member of the Doom Patrol suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatised and downtrodden, the team comprises of Robotman aka Cliff Steele (played by Brendan Fraser – “Crash”, “The Mummy”, “Gods and Monsters”), Negative Man aka Larry Trainor (played by Matt Bomer – “White Collar”, “American Horror Story”, “The Normal Heart”), Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr (played by April Bowlby – “Two and a Half Men”, “How I Met Your Mother”) Crazy Jane (played by Diane Guerrero – “Orange is the New Black”) and Cyborg aka Victor Stone (played by Joivan Wade – “The First Purge”, “Doctor Who”).
Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. They come together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence under the leadership of modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief (played by Timothy Dalton – “The Living Daylights”, “Licence to Kill”).

In Season 1, following the mysterious disappearance of The Chief, these reluctant heroes find themselves in a place they never expected to be and are called to action by Vic Stone aka Cyborg, who proposes a mission that is hard to refuse. Season 1 also stars Alan Tudyk (“Powerless”, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Suburgatory”) as Mr. Nobody.

In Season 2, following the defeat of Mr. Nobody, the Doom Patrol now find themselves mini-sized and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. Here they begin to deal with their feelings of betrayal with Niles Caulder aka The Chief, while confronting their own personal baggage. As each member faces the challenge of growing beyond their own past traumatic experiences, they must come together to embrace and protect the newest member of the family, Dorothy Spinner (recurring guest star Abigail Shapiro), Caulder’s daughter, whose powers remain a mysterious but real threat to bringing on the end of the world.

Can’t wait to watch new episodes of the HBO Max Original series Love Life, starring Oscar® nominee Anna Kendrick? The wait is over! Three new episodes of Love Life will drop today, 4 June, while the final four episodes will be available next Thursday, 11 June exclusively on HBO GO. The first three episodes of Love Life premiered same time as the U.S. on HBO GO last Thursday.

Love Life, a fresh take on a romantic comedy anthology series, features “an Emmy-worthy turn from Kendrick” (Decider, Joel Keller) and “should be the first thing you watch on the new streaming platform” (Glamour, Anna Moeslein). It has “a sharpness and a depth” (Vanity Fair, Richard Lawson), “the writing is sharp” (Uproxx, Kimberly Ricci), and star “Zoë Chao is a standout” (Entertainment Weekly, Kristen Baldwin).

The series comes from creator and co-showrunner Sam Boyd (In a Relationship) and is about the journey from first love to last love, and how the people we’re with along the way make us into who we are when we finally end up with someone forever. Brand-New HBO Asia Original Series THE HEAD To Premiere 12 June On HBO GO And HBO

Winter has fallen on the South Pole. The sun will soon disappear for the next six months. A small team of scientists, known as the Winterers, will remain at the Polaris VI Antarctic Research Station to continue their innovative research. Their work is crucial in the fight against climate change and they are under the command of renowned biologist Arthur Wilde. But when spring comes, summer commander Johan Berg returns to the station only to find most of the team dead or missing. A killer is on the loose and Annika, Johan’s wife, is missing too. If he wants to find her alive, he will have to trust Maggie, the young doctor who is profoundly shaken and apparently the sole survivor from the group… or, is there someone else who survived?

WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks today announced the premiere date and released the trailer of the brand-new HBO Asia Original, The Head, produced in association with Hulu Japan and THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO. The series will premiere on 12 June at 9pm on HBO GO and HBO.

The Head is a survival thriller set in the Polaris VI international polar station in Antarctica during its long, dark Antarctic months, engulfed by the cold, the wind and the vast expanses of ice. A select group of scientists from different countries are in charge of maintaining the base operational during the long polar nights. But in the midst of winter, the station suddenly stops communicating with the outside world. With dialogues in English and Danish, the suspenseful storyline develops over six hour-long episodes and is directed by Jorge Dorado (“The Pier”, “Mindscape”).

The series was shot in a two-thousand-square-meter studio in Tenerife, Spain, where the purpose-built set of the Polaris VI research station where most of the action takes place was erected, reproduced to actual scale, based on information about the layout and operation of this type of scientific facility, which enabled the show-runners to film long shots of the characters wandering around inside the station with complete authenticity. The production crew also travelled to the rugged landscapes of Iceland to shoot the series’ exteriors, although most of the story is set inside the polar station, which provides a particular feel of encapsulation.

The Head was presented in a forum session at Series Mania in 2017, a prestigious international festival in France, and garnered enormous interest among representatives from the media and entertainment industry.

Popular Korean dramas GOBLIN and SAIMDANG on HBO Go starting May 20

Korean drama enthusiasts rejoice! Starting May 20, 2020, satiate your Korean drama cravings with two popular Korean drama series – Goblin, one of the highest rated Korean dramas on cable television, and Saimdang, a love story set across time, on HBO GO. Goblin, an epic story that spans centuries, boasts a star-studded cast including Gong Yoo (Train To Busan), Lee Dong Wook (Hotel King), Yoo In Na and Kim Go Eun (The King: Eternal Monarch). Written by Kim Eun Sook (Mr Sunshine) and directed by Lee Eung Bok (Mr Sunshine), the masterminds behind the highly acclaimed Descendants of the Sun, the 16 episode series promises K-drama fans a thrilling romantic drama that is set in a fantasy world of present day. The storyline follows the handsome Goblin (Gong Yoo) who is tired of his immortality. He needs a ‘goblin bride’ to end his life, leading him to cross paths with Euntak (Kim Go Eun), whom he falls in love with. Euntak is actually on the run from the Reaper (Lee Dong Wook), who is tasked with killing Euntak. The plot thickens when it is revealed that Goblin and Reaper are roommates, plunging them into a complicated pit as they wrestle with their emotions and duties.

Another love story, but one set in both the 16th century Joseon era and present day, is Saimdang, a 30-episode series of fact and fiction about the life of historical Korean figure, Shin Saimdang. Lee Young-Ae (Dae Jang Geum) returned to the small screen return after 14 years since Jewel in the Palace. She plays both female lead roles – present day Seo Jiyun, a part-time university lecturer, and the celebrated 16th century Korean painter and calligraphist herself. Spanning various time periods, the story revolves around the contemporary character discovering her 16th century character’s diary and the secrets behind a mysterious portrait drawn by Lee Gyeom, played by Song Seung-Hoon (East of Eden).

Here’s another reason to stay home and do your part… by watching TV on the sofa! Entire first seasons of select iconic HBO Originals and HBO Asia Originals are now available for free for one month starting 15 April on HBO GO – no registration or subscription is required.

Never got around to seeing (or desperate to re-watch) dramas like ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘The Wire’? Now you can. The iconic shows are also joined by the award-winning series that everyone’s talking about right now, ‘Succession’. And if you need a laugh? Try these hit comedies: ‘Ballers’, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson; ‘Barry’, with Bill Hader; ‘Silicon Valley’, featuring Thomas Middleditch and Kumail Nanjiani; and satire ‘Veep’, starring serial Emmy-winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

For documentary lovers, try ‘McMillion$’, which digs deep into the McDonalds Monopoly game scandal; ‘Jane Fonda In Five Acts’, which centres around the life, work, activism and controversies of the actress and fitness tycoon; and ‘The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley’, which investigates the rise and fall of a one-time multibillion-dollar healthcare company.

Escape Plan: The Extractors
Premieres 11 April, Saturday at 9pm on HBO GO and HBO

Kicking this explosive action tale into high gear, security expert Ray Breslin is hired to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul from a formidable Latvian prison. In the process, Breslin’s girlfriend is also captured. With his team, they must pull off a deadly rescue mission to confront their sadistic foe and save the hostages before time runs out. Dora and The Lost City of Gold
