A MAS PINASARAP anniversary foodie adventure at Seven Corners, Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria

A (not so) few years ago, my Significant Other and I decided to make it official and go through the adventure of married life together. The past several years had its ups and downs but they are always marked with significant milestones and great memories.

Well, these deserve to be celebrated in grand style, don’t they? So on our special day, Dear Hubby and I decided to go on a food adventure at Seven Corners, Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria’s renowned all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant.

A Warm Welcome and Stylish Ambiance

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the restaurant’s chic and contemporary interiors, a result of its recent renovation. The stylish lighting, sleek furniture, stunning view of the Ortigas business district from our window seat as well as the thoughtfully placed accent pieces all created an airy, refreshing vibe that set the tone for our evening.

We arrived a bit early so we were able to witness the frenetic energy of the chefs and servers meticulously plating and staging the stations and dining areas, ensuring that the whole experience is not just a feast for the tastebuds, but for other senses as well.

Exploring the Seven Corners

Seven Corners got its name from its diverse culinary offerings from around the world, spread across seven unique stations. Each station beckoned with a promise of a gastronomic adventure, and we eagerly embarked on our culinary journey.

Salad Station. Fresh greens, sliced vegetables, and an assortment of dressings, nuts and cold cuts awaited.

Western Station. Classic American and European dishes including grilled meats and Spanish dishes such as Rabo del Toro, Chicken ala Madrilena and Gambas al Ajillo. The US Ribeye Steak was a standout, grilled the way we want it and accompanied by a variety of sauces and seasonings to cater to our differing palates.

Filipino Station. In celebration of Philippine Independence Day, the restaurant has a dedicated Filipino station – MAS PINASARAP – that paid delightful homage to our heritage, and brought back fond memories of family gatherings, thanks to viands loved by Filpino historical luminaries such as Tinola, Pork Binagoongan, Bistek, Fish Escabeche, Pinakbet and Sisig Rice. Of course, the star of the show is the Lechon de Cebu, herb marinated suckling pig with crispy skin that gives way to tender and flavorful meat.

Dessert Station. No meal is complete without dessert, and the Dessert station did not disappoint. From miniature cakes and cookies to Filipino delicacies like puto bumbong, bibingka and suman, the variety was astounding. Plus, samalamig in the form of gulaman and melon drinks add more refreshing sweetness to the meal.

Standout Dishes and Unforgettable Moments

Throughout the evening, we were impressed by the restaurant’s commitment to quality and flavor. Signature dishes like the prime rib-eye steak and the Lechon de Cebu. The staff’s recommendations, including the especially featured Pinoy dishes like the Kesong Puti Pizza and kakanin desserts, ensured that we experienced the best Seven Corners had to offer while exploring homegrown flavors.

A Celebration to Remember

Our anniversary celebration at Seven Corners was more than just a meal; it was our journey together through a world of flavors, expertly curated and beautifully presented. The combination of world-class service, exquisite dishes, and a stylish, comfortable setting made for a memorable evening, worthy of our very special occasion.

6 reasons why Pinoys love 2D Lotto

Games of chance have taken a foothold as a favorite pastime among many Filipinos, and no wonder: they are viewed as a relatively easy ticket to a better life. Amidst the challenges that our countrymen face, the potential windfall from a big win is enough to convince them to stay in the game.

One particular game that has captured the heats of Pinoys is the EZ2 Lotto, now known as 2D Lotto. Here are 6 reasons why:

  1. It’s easy to play. 2D Lotto is loved for its simplicity. The player just has to pick two numbers from 1 to 31, match them with the official winning numbers in exact order, and they’re a winner! Newcomers as well as seasoned players will find its straightforward rules appealing.
  2. Accessible Anywhere, Anytime. One of the biggest draws of 2D Lotto is its accessibility. Tickets are available almost everywhere: corner stores, malls, and lottery outlets across towns and cities. Plus, with draws happening thrice daily, Pinoys can join in the excitement whenever it suits their schedule.
  3. Budget-Friendly Fun. Playing 2D Lotto won’t break the bank. For just ₱10 per play, it offers hours of entertainment at an affordable price. This makes it accessible to folks from all walks of life, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a chance at winning.
  4. Thrill of the Draw. Despite its simplicity, 2D Lotto packs a punch in the excitement department. The anticipation builds up three times a day, at 2:00 PM, 5:00 PM, and 9:00 PM, as players eagerly await the draw results. It’s a rush like no other, keeping Pinoys on the edge of their seats!
  5. A Bonding Experience. EZ2 Lotto isn’t just a game; it’s a cultural phenomenon that brings families and friends together. Whether it’s discussing number picks, checking EZ2 results today, or celebrating wins, playing 2D Lotto strengthens bonds and creates memories among kith and kin.
  6. Evolution to 2D Lotto. While EZ2 Lotto has undergone a transformation into 2D Lotto, it retains all the elements that make it a favorite among Pinoys. The refresh breathed new life into the game, maintaining its simplicity, affordability, and thrice-daily excitement.

While playing 2D Lotto is a lot of fun, it’s important to play responsibly. Remember, it’s meant to be a light-hearted form of entertainment, not a financial plan. The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) promotes responsible gaming, and you can find more information on their official website.

Rediscovering Filipino Cuisine at Kingsford Cafe’s Filipino Food Festival

Over the past few years, Filipino food has been slowly but surely getting the recognition it deserves as a truly world-class cuisine. Characterized by Spanish, Chinese and Indian influences as well as regional cultures, Filipino cuisine has been noted to offer rich diversity and bold flavors.

However, most Pinoys tend to take their homegrown dishes for granted. That doesn’t apply to Kingsford Hotel’s Executive Chef Angelo Chubby Timban. A seasoned chef with accolades in international cooking competitions, Chef Chubby is known for his creativity and passion for the craft. His culinary philosophy is deeply rooted in his Filipino upbringing, yet redefined through modern European techniques and contemporary Asian executions.

This drove him and his team to launch a Filipino food festival.

In celebration of Filipino cuisine

Kingsford Cafe’s Filipino Food Festival, an all-you-can-eat buffet held Friday and Saturday evenings this June, offers a feast that is as much about rediscovering one’s roots as it is about indulging in a spectacular array of dishes from across the archipelago.

Ginebra San Miguel celebrates 190 years in The Art of Gin event

Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI), the maker of the world’s largest selling gin, recently hosted an unforgettable celebration at Novotel Manila. Together with my fellow foodies, media reps, social media celebrities, and brand ambassadors, we gathered at the hotel together with GSMI’s team to honor the Art of Gin.

A Walk-through of Ginebra San Miguel’s History and Possibilities

The event kicked off with a captivating walk-through of Ginebra San Miguel’s illustrious 190-year history. Guests were taken on a journey from the brand’s inception – its first production under Destileria Licorea de Ayala in 1834 – to its current status as a household name in the Philippines. A sentimental look back at its various bottle variants – the well-loved “bilog” and “quatro kantos” – highlighted the brand’s evolution, resilience, and its commitment to quality.

The presentation also shed light on the brand’s future, hinting at exciting innovations and expansions that will continue to delight gin enthusiasts.
