Say hello to the New McCafe Iced Coffee

If your day is not complete without a cup (or two… or more!) of coffee, then you’re definitely not alone.

Coffee consumption in the country has been steadily growing, with Pinoys shifting from being moderate coffee drinkers to heavy consumers of the beverage, according to a recent Qantar World Panel study. In fact, eight of ten Filipinos drink 2.5 cups of coffee per day.

Personally, I couldn’t start my day without my cuppa, and I often find myself reaching for it time and again throughout the day to perk me up for my daily activities, or in the case of iced coffee, get me refreshed during hot weather. Plus, when I take my coffee with my family members at home, or with my coworkers in the office, my coffee break gets elevated into a bonding moment which is always a welcome development in my book.

Speaking of iced coffee, did you know that McDonald’s was the first fast-food restaurant to make this drink available to the Philippine market when it launched its McCafe brand in 2012? Fast forward to today, in line with its drive to improve its food and beverage offerings to serve its markets better, McCafe is launching a new formulation for its iced coffee characterized by a “bolder brew and “creamier blend.”

Together with my fellow foodies and other KOLs, I attended the launch of McCafe’s newest iced coffee variants that are sure to make McCafe the go-to coffee anytime, anywhere. There, we participated in various games and activities that drew us deeper into our coffee advanture.

To take us further into our coffee experience, we also went through a mindful sensory coffee tasting activity which activated all our senses as we enjoyed our coffee to fully evaluate its various qualities. (You might want to try doing these too when enjoying your own beverage to heighten your appreciation for the drink.)

  • Sense of Feel. Wrap your hands around the cup and feel its temperature. Your iced coffee should, of course, be cold.
  • Sense of Smell. Lift the lid of the coffee cup and breathe in its rich aroma. You should smell the vibrant roast.
  • Sense of Sight. Peer into your cup and check out the rich and dark color of black coffee or the creamy tan of the milkier variants of iced coffee.
  • Sense of Hearing and Taste. As you sip, listen to the sound the coffee makes and how it feels as it enters your mouth. Take note of the flavors that immediately stand out and which ones become apparent over time.

  • McCafe Iced Coffee Vanilla. The original coffee flavored with vanilla syrup resulting in a balanced blend of creamy milk and sweet vanilla.

Recipe: Shrimp Mardi Gras

As a true-blue foodie, I sometimes get the urge to have the delicious dishes I’ve tasted in restaurants right in the comfort of my home. This inclination not only allows me to test out and expand my mad skills in the kitchen, but also enables me to share my food adventures with the fam (and even friends) without breaking the bank. (Take my Cheesy Baked Salmon recipe for example. It has become a go-to holiday dish not just in my family but also among my friends who can’t thank me enough for the recipe.)

This takes us to Shrimp Mardi Gras by The Shrimp Bucket.

About the Dish

The Shrimp Bucket serves jumbo white shrimps, crabs and mussels – whether boiled, grilled or fried – in a bag by the pound drenched in a flavorful sauce of the diner’s choice. As it turns out, one of my favorite sauces is Mardi Gras.

The sauce is named after the famous Louisiana, USA holiday that takes place on the Tuesday immediately preceding Ash Wednesday, which in turn, signal the start of the Lenten Season. As Lent is a time of fasting and abstinence, Mardi Gras – also known as Fat Tuesday – presents the last chance for people to eat rich foods before they deprive themselves in keeping with the season.

True to its name, this flavorful buttery and garlicky adds a lot of richness to The Shrimp Bucket’s offerings. I can’t wait to prepare this for my family.

My take on the recipe

After a bit of trial and error, here’s the recipe that best approximates the flavors that I love with The Shrimp Bucket’s Shrimp Mardi Gras. I had to tweak the ingredients a bit by substituting fresh shrimp with packaged frozen jumbo shrimp, and Spanish chorizo with skinless longganisa, for convenience and economy.

Ingredients:

  • 500g frozen jumbo frozen jumbo shrimp
  • 5 pieces skinless pork longganisa
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 whole garlic, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon dry white wine (in my case I used what wine was available – Pink Moscato)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Procedure:

  • Thaw the shrimp and pat dry then season with salt.
  • Fry the longganisa on a hot pan, sauteing and breaking the pieces up into bits until lightly toasted and oil has been rendered. Place the longganisa bits off to the side of the pan.
  • Add the butter then stir in the garlic and the chili flakes. Saute until the garlic slices are lightly browned (be careful not to burn them).
  • Add the shrimp and the paprika. Saute together with the longganisa bits until shrimp is cooked, turning opaque and slightly pink. Remove the pan from heat.
  • Stir in the wine, lemon juice and parsley.
  • Serve hot with hot rice or crusty bread.

If the empty plates at the end of our meal was anything to go by, I’d say that this dish was a hit with the fam!

Next time, I’ll try the Mardi Gras sauce with some steamed mussels and pair the dish with Creamy Salted Egg Shrimp.

When to serve

I’m sure you’d love this dish as well and would want to show it off during special occasions. Here are some of the instances when it will definitely be a showstopper:

  • Family Reunions. Bring a special treat to seafood lovers in the next clan get-together. The good news is that even the meatlovers would love it too!
  • Holiday Meals. Add this to your Noche Buena or Media Noche spread to make your holiday feast one for the books!
  • Office Potlucks. Wow your co-workers with your kitchen prowess with this tasty viand.

How about you? When will you be serving this up to your nears-and-dears?

#BaguioEats: Canto Bogchi Joint

Baguio City is known for its cool climate and vibrant food scene. One restaurant that stands out in this bustling city is Canto Bogchi Joint. Located on Kisad Road, just across from Burnham Park, Canto has become a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.

A Brief History

Canto Bogchi Joint first opened in 2008 at Engineer’s Hill with just three tables. The restaurant quickly gained popularity for its American comfort food. After three years, it moved to the Ketchup Food Community, where it continued to attract a loyal following. When the Ketchup Food Community closed in 2017, Canto found a new home on Kisad Road. This location has been a hit, often with queues of people eager to try its food.

The Menu

Canto Bogchi Joint offers a variety of dishes, blending American comfort food with local flavors, which my family and I were able to enjoy during our Baguio vacay:

Lomo Ribs (Php1399 for a family slab): Known for its tender, oven-baked pork ribs, this dish comes with a rich house-blend BBQ sauce and a choice of organic brown rice or mashed potatoes.

From humble beginnings to a national favorite: The Kuya J Journey

When you walk into Kuya J’s at SM City East Ortigas, you’re greeted by the inviting aroma of sizzling Filipino dishes, the sound of laughter from families gathered around tables, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s hard to believe that this bustling restaurant, now a national favorite, started as a small eatery in the streets of Cebu.

The Humble Beginnings

Kuya J Restaurant was once known as “Ang Kan-anan ni Kuya J,” a simple eatery in Cebu that became popular for its delicious, home-cooked Filipino meals. Word quickly spread about the eatery’s mouthwatering dishes, and soon enough, it was a favorite among locals. The original owner, known as “Kuya J,” eventually moved to Canada, and that’s when the restaurant’s journey took a new turn.

The Transformation

When Winglip Chang and his team at iKitchen Inc. took over the eatery, they saw potential in what Kuya J had started. They decided to rebrand and develop the restaurant, transforming it from a modest eatery into a full-fledged dining destination. The menu was expanded, and the interiors were redesigned to create a more inviting and comfortable space for customers. Despite these changes, the essence of Kuya J—serving authentic Filipino food with heart—remained the same.

During my visits to the SM City East Ortigas branch with my family, I could see how this balance of old and new played out. We couldn’t resist Kuya J’s specialty, the Crispy Pata (Php745 regular | Php945 family) —a golden, crispy pork leg with tender, juicy meat that’s served with a homemade soy and vinegar dip. We balanced this rich dish with Monggo sa Gata (Php199), made with monggo beans, onion, garlic, shrimp paste, tomatoes, pork, coconut milk then topped with crispy chicken skin. Both were as delicious as they were satisfying, perfect examples of how Kuya J stays true to its roots while appealing to today’s diners.

National Expansion

From its humble beginnings in Cebu, Kuya J expanded rapidly, opening branches in major malls and cities across the Philippines. In just a few years, it grew to over 100 branches, making it one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in the country. The opening of its 100th branch in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, was a significant milestone, marking the brand’s success in bringing its beloved Filipino dishes to a wider audience.

A big part of Kuya J’s appeal is its accessibility. By choosing strategic locations in popular shopping malls, the restaurant has made it easy for people to enjoy their favorite dishes wherever they are. The choice of Jericho Rosales as a brand ambassador also helped solidify Kuya J’s image as a family-friendly, approachable restaurant. Just like Kuya J, Jericho is known for his genuine, down-to-earth personality, making him the perfect face for the brand.

The Secret to Success

What sets Kuya J apart is its commitment to quality. The restaurant uses only the freshest ingredients, ensuring that every dish is flavorful and true to its Filipino roots. From classic favorites like Pinandan na Manok (Php295)—boneless chicken marinated in spices and wrapped in pandan leaves—to the comforting Pancit Canton (Php249) loaded with meat, shrimp, and squid, every dish is prepared with care and attention to detail.

Kuya J is also all about family. The restaurant’s warm, welcoming atmosphere, combined with its delicious, sharable dishes, makes it an ideal spot for family gatherings and celebrations. During our meal, we enjoyed a variety of dishes that catered to everyone’s tastes. The Palabok (Php249) was a hit, with its rich and flavorful shrimp sauce topped with eggs and chicharon bits, offering a delightful mix of textures and flavors. The Beef Pares (Php516) also stood out, with its tender pot-roasted beef in a mildly sweet and garlicky broth that added extra layers of flavor to the meal.

For something hearty and traditional, we ordered the Kuya J Kare-Kare (Php305 solo | Php605 salo), a dish that paired perfectly roasted peanuts with a creamy peanut sauce. The tender beef and fresh vegetables made for an irresistible, satisfying meal that was perfect for sharing. My husband also went for his favorite, the Sizzling Tofu (Php245). This creamy, vegetarian dish is Kuya J’s healthier offering, and with its light but flavorful sauce, it’s something we love to order when we’re looking for a balance on our table.

No meal at Kuya J is complete without dessert, and we made sure to try the Halo Halo Espesyal (Php89) and the Halo Halo Duo (Php89). Both were refreshing and packed with traditional Filipino sangkaps, making them the perfect sweet ending to our meal. We also couldn’t resist the Leche Flan (Php85), a creamy and milky luscious treat. This simple yet indulgent dessert was the perfect way to conclude our dining experience.

The Future of Kuya J

Kuya J’s journey from a small eatery in Cebu to a national restaurant chain is a true success story. By staying true to its roots while embracing growth and change, Kuya J has captured the hearts of Filipinos all over the country. With plans to expand to 200 branches in the coming years, Kuya J is set to continue its mission of bringing people together over good food.

Sing and eat your heart out at Trev’s Grill, Mandaluyong

Sometimes you really just have to let loose, ya know?

Ever since my teammates and I returned to the office after the pandemic, we began to feel the pressure and stress mounting. Spending bulk of our work day with our noses stuck to our laptops, attending meetings here and there, and putting together reports can be quite tiring.

This is why every once in a while, we take off as soon as we clock out and hie ourselves to our new favorite hangout: Trev’s Grill.

Trev’s Grill, Mandaluyong

Trev’s Grill and Restaurant is located in one of the quieter neighborhoods of Mandaluyong quite near San Juan (a mere ten minutes ride from Greenhills), making it an easy destination for those coming from the north like Quezon City or the east like Pasig.

I have only heard about Trev’s Grill when my songstress boss returned to the office with tales of her fun weekend out with friends wherein she sang her favorite tunes straight from Youtube live onstage.

There’s little wonder then, that when the holiday season rolled in, our team decided to hold our Christmas Party there, complete with gift-giving and games, even a Rockeoke Challenge wherein we had to sing songs according (some very wild) categories drawn from a fishbowl. Think Oldies but Goodies, Diva Showdown, Hard Rockin’, Classic OPM, Nicest of the 90s and, of course, Swiftie Eras. We even decked ourselves out as our favorite artists (guess who mine was!).

As we held our Christmas Party on a Monday evening, we basically had the whole place to ourselves. The ample parking space was able to accommodate our vehicles (quite a stress relief for a December event!). The venue was also gaily decorated in line with the Christmas spirit which added to the holiday cheer.

Needless to say, we really took the chance to let loose and sing our hearts out, as well as cutting a rug to the music.

That night, in between bouts of warbling, crooning and rockin’ out, we also feasted on these filling Pinoy classics and bar chows:

Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Pork Shanghai Rolls (Php383)
Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Fish Fillet (Php308)
Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Pork Sisig (Php310)

We also toasted to the good times we had in the past year and the ones we’ll have ahead of us with these libations:

Bucket of San Mig Light (Php605) for the group.

Bailey’s Irish Cream (Php257/shot), my favorite liqueur, just for me!

Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong

Clearly, Trev’s Grill’s chill vibes, song-friendly acoustic, mouthwatering food and refreshing drinks all made for a lively and fun holiday shindig for me and my officemates.

So much so that we came back a few months later; this time, for a joint birthday celebration between me and another team member!

This time, we took advantage of the restaurant’s Todo Sulit Bundles which combine some of its best-sellers into a filling feast for a group. Going for a group meal took out a lot of the hassle in deciding what to order and scored us a few savings as well.

Our first group meal, good for 6 people for just Php3093, consisted of 6 cups of rice, 6 iced teas and:

Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Beef Bulalo
Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Buttered Chicken
Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Lechon Kawali
Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Mixed Pancit

The other group meal, good for 3 people for just Php1118, consisted of 3 cups of rice, 3 iced teas and:

Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Sinigang na Hipin
Trevs Grill, Mandaluyong
Inihaw na Liempo

It sure was a rockin’ birthday celebration, made even more memorable by the good food, great company and great music!

So, to sum up, let me give you a run-down of why I think you and your squad should hold your next shindig at Trev’s Grill:

  • Accessible location. You won’t have to wander far as it’s smack-dab in the center of the metro. Plus, it has quite a sizeable parking area so you won’t have to stress yourself in trying to find a parking spot.
  • Tasty and affordable food. Whether you go for the classic Pinoy ulams and rice, or for finger-lickin’ bar chows, Trev’s Grill has something for you. Personally, I love the Buttered Chicken and Mixed Pancit; I can’t seem to stop refilling my plate. Plus, the serving sizes are great for sharing so the group can definitely eat their fill.
  • Sing ’till you drop! If you ever had aspirations of being a chanteuse, you can live out your fantasies at Trev’s Grill. Just select a minus-one or karaoke version song from Youtube, get up on stage, grab the mic and sing your heart out!

Trev’s Grill is located at 216 Haig Street, Barangay Daang Bakal, Mandaluyong City, open Mondays to Saturdays from 5pm to 2am. For inquiries and reservations, call +63 2 87319964.

SB19 declares “Atin ‘to!” as the new faces of Chicken McDo

Filipino supergroup SB19 has joined forces with McDonald’s Philippines to promote the new and improved Chicken McDo, bringing excitement to both fast food lovers and the group’s dedicated fan base, A’tin. The P-Pop sensation, comprising Pablo, Ken, Stell, Josh, and Justin, proudly declares “Atin ‘to!” (“This is ours”) in their latest endorsement, marking a significant collaboration in the fast-food industry.

SB19’s rise to fame has been meteoric. They became the first Filipino and Southeast Asian act nominated for the Billboard Music Awards’ Top Social Artist category, establishing their prominence on the global stage. Now, they follow in the footsteps of other notable McDonald’s endorsers, such as Vice Ganda, who helped relaunch Chicken McDo to great acclaim last year, and Kapuso royalty Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, who created a viral sensation with their musical extravaganza featuring Chicken McDo’s “dinosaur-size” portions.

“We’re ecstatic to welcome SB19 to the McDonald’s Philippines family. To have this supergroup join us in showing love for our much bigger, much juicier, much crispier and much sulit Chicken McDo is very exciting,” said Adi Timbol-Hernandez, McDonald’s Philippines’ Assistant Vice President for Corporate Relations and Impact. “It’s a great collaboration, and we look forward to working with SB19 in delivering more feel-good moments to our customers all over the country. Definitely, there’s much more to look forward to in this campaign.”

The official announcement followed a teaser campaign on McDonald’s Philippines’ social media pages, hinting at a new “Ninang” for their next endorser. Loyal A’tin fans quickly guessed the upcoming endorsement, and their excitement was rewarded with an exclusive video featuring a specially-written single by SB19. The song showcased the band’s love for Chicken McDo and encouraged their fans to embrace it as their own.

Margot Torres, McDonald’s Philippines Managing Director, emphasized the synergy between the two icons: “It’s a perfect fit: McDonald’s with SB19. A global icon partners with the first P-Pop band to make a worldwide breakthrough. We’re proud to be working with them in sharing the great news about our Bigger and Better Chicken McDo. Parami nang parami ang in-love sa Chicken McDo and we’re very happy to welcome SB19, the A’TIN community, and many more into the golden arches of McDonald’s.”

The “Atin ‘to Chicken McDo” campaign is a celebration of what’s uniquely Filipino. Raoul Panes, Chief Creative Officer of Leo Burnett Group Manila and Publicis Groupe Philippines, explained, “We landed on this ‘Atin ‘to Chicken McDo’ idea with inspiration from SB19 and their loyal, passionate A’TIN fanbase. It took several months of hard work to birth this campaign. Our SB19 fans in the team helped shape the idea and execution to what you see now. And our collaboration with the SB19 team made the outcome even better. Truly ‘Atin ‘to’ for the many creative minds who shared their talents and the many who love the campaign.”

Directed by Film Pabrika’s Joel Limchoc, the 60-second film features vibrant, pop-inspired scenes representing various Filipino demographics, all enjoying Chicken McDo with a touch of swag and Pinoy pride. Limchoc shared his experience, stating, “Josh, Pablo, Stell, Ken, and Justin were a dream to work with, very professional. I’m a fan!”

We haven’t had the need to use its on-site Business Center, but the hotel provides what business travelers need such as copying/printing and scanning services as well as office supplies.

Nearby Activities and Attractions

Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria’s location in the Ortigas Business District provided us with ample opportunities for exploration and leisure. Directly connected to Robinsons Galleria Mall, we had easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment. Whether we wanted to pick up a few groceries, shop for new clothes, or catch a movie, the mall had something for everyone.

MMDC and Globe Prepaid’s Step Up Sessions empower working students in upskilling for free

Balancing work, school, and personal growth can feel like an uphill battle for many young working students. The demands of earning a living while pursuing higher education and trying to advance in your career can be overwhelming. But what if there was a way to upskill for free and gain valuable insights from industry leaders without adding to your financial burden? Enter the Step Up Sessions, a collaborative initiative by Mapúa Malayan Digital College (MMDC) and Globe Prepaid, designed to empower working students to elevate their careers and lives.

The Birth of the Step Up Sessions

Launched under the Step Up sa Pangarap movement, the Step Up Sessions aim to provide working students with the support and resources they need to excel both academically and professionally. Hosted on the immersive GoHUSTLE digital interactive platform of the Globe Hangouts portal, these sessions offer six free upskilling talks featuring top industry leaders.

“At MMDC, we are driven by our commitment to the Step Up sa Pangarap movement. It’s a mission designed to inspire and empower working students across the country and the globe. We firmly believe that reaching your dreams begins with a progressive college education that prepares you for the demands of the modern workplace,” said Jenny Chua, MMDC’s Vice President for Marketing and Admissions, during the inaugural Step Up Session.

Empowering Leadership and Personal Growth

The first Step Up Session, held on June 4, focused on leadership, with Jannette Toral, founder of DigitalFilipino.com and co-founder of i-Metrics Asia Pacific Corporation, sharing her expertise. Toral emphasized the importance of three core values: encouraging others, embracing change, and strategic thinking.

TORAL

“You have to know yourself to grow yourself,” Toral stated, highlighting that self-awareness is crucial for effective leadership. She provided a simple framework to help participants build confidence, set achievable goals, and take initiative. “Remember that you have to see value in yourself first before you add value to others,” she added.

The Power of Technology in Business

Neil Dimapilis, digital marketer and founder of Social Media Marketing Philippines (SMMPH), led the second talk, discussing the value of technology in business. He explained how integrating technology can streamline tasks, increase efficiency, and enable data-driven decision-making.

“Knowing which (technology) to use is just the start,” Dimapilis noted. “Training people to use them and learning how to maximize it is the rest of the battle.” He stressed the importance of choosing the right tools and effectively training team members to ensure optimal use and satisfaction.

Creating Meaningful Content and Personal Branding

On June 20, the second Step Up Session delved into personal branding and content creation. Alec Cuenca, podcaster, motivational speaker, and content creator, shared his insights on building a successful personal brand. He introduced the 7-hour Content System and encouraged participants to continually create and refine their content.

CUENCA

“The Hook is the first few seconds of the video and grabs the attention of viewers,” Cuenca explained, outlining the structure for creating viral content. He emphasized the importance of a growth mindset and the role of technology in expanding one’s influence.

Following Cuenca, digital marketer Jessica Madrazo discussed alternative ways to monetize creative skills, such as selling photos, videos, and designs. “It doesn’t just take a lot of creativity and talent. It also takes a lot of discipline and consistency,” Madrazo said, highlighting the need for dedication and perseverance in the creative industry.

Financial Literacy and Independence

The third Step Up Session, held on July 4, focused on financial literacy. Chester Catilago, MMDC Shared Services Director, opened the session by stressing the importance of managing finances effectively. “In today’s world, to know how to manage your finances is essential. Whether it’s budgeting, investing, saving, or planning for the future, these skills are vital for personal and professional success,” he said.

Mariel Bitanga-Kintanar, founder of Simply Finance and Director of Business Development and Partnerships of Paywatch, provided practical advice on financial management. “It’s never too late or too early to work on our money just like your studies,” she said, encouraging participants to start their financial journey immediately.

Kintanar shared tips on cultivating a healthy relationship with money, including practicing gratitude, changing limiting beliefs, and surrounding oneself with positive influences. She also discussed creating a financial game plan, managing a budget, and investing wisely. “Small steps done consistently will really add up to the improvement of your financial life,” she advised.

The Community and Support Network

One of the most significant benefits of the Step Up Sessions is the sense of community and support they foster. Participants like Shekinah Florentino and Maja Samaniego have found the sessions to be incredibly motivating and empowering.

“I found the Step Up Sessions to be very motivating, as it focused on important values and skills that will be essential for my future career,” Florentino shared. Samaniego added, “So far, Step Up Sa Pangarap has done wonders for my confidence as a young freelancer. The community has also been invaluable in providing not only a sense of camaraderie and support, but also the resources to go forward at your own pace, in your own time.”

The Step Up Sessions by MMDC and Globe Prepaid offer a comprehensive, free resource for young working students to upskill and advance their careers. From leadership and technology to personal branding and financial literacy, these sessions provide valuable insights and practical tools for personal and professional growth.

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? Join the upcoming Step Up Session on August 15 from 7pm to 9pm. Create an account on the Globe Hangouts portal and register for the sessions to start your journey towards a brighter future. And if you’re considering furthering your education, applications for MMDC’s school year 2024 to 2025 are ongoing, with Term 1 starting in August 2024. Apply now and step up towards your dreams!

Insider tips for an experience you’ll adore at Azadore

One of the greatest perks of being a foodie is the joy of discovering hidden culinary gems and sharing insider tips about favorite restaurants. Azadore, the latest venture by celebrity chef and internationally awarded author Myke “Tatung” Sarthou, is one such gem nestled in Quezon City. With its unique blend of homey nostalgia and modern culinary excellence, Azadore is not just a restaurant but an experience waiting to be savored.

I’ve previously enjoyed its unique charms before when I dined here with my officemates and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to explore more of its Spanish-themed menu during a recent get-together with my foodie friends.

And now, I can share some tidbits to help you have an experiences you’ll definitely adore at Azadore.

The Origin Story

Chef Tatung’s vision for Azadore is deeply rooted in his childhood memories and Cebuano heritage. The concept of Azadore draws inspiration from family gatherings at his grandparents’ house, where the aroma of grilled meats filled the air, and everyone contributed their signature dishes to the feast. The name itself is a playful combination of “asador,” meaning “grill” in Spanish, and “adore,” reflecting the love and cherished memories associated with these gatherings.

The restaurant is housed in a beautifully restored 1950s home on Scout Fernandez Street. Interior designer Ivy Almario has transformed this ancestral house into a dining space that exudes both modern sophistication and nostalgic charm. Aside from a spacious indoor dining area, an airy al fresco section is also available outside that leads to its fully stocked bar – Bebeme – and a newly opened bakery. Original architectural elements have been preserved, blending seamlessly with contemporary design touches to create a warm and inviting ambiance.
