Discovering Dolora’s Hauz of Pancit Malabon

If you’re a fan of Filipino food, you’ve probably heard of Pancit Malabon. One place that’s making waves with this dish is Dolora’s Hauz of Pancit Malabon. This family-run business has turned a beloved local recipe into a must-try for food lovers across Luzon. Let’s dive into what makes Dolora’s Pancit Malabon so special and why it’s worth adding to your meal plans.

Understanding Pancit Malabon: A Filipino Classic

Pancit Malabon is a Filipino noodle dish that comes from Malabon, Metro Manila. It uses thick rice noodles and is known for its rich, yellow-orange sauce. This color comes from achuete (annatto seeds), and the sauce gets its complex flavor from patis (fish sauce) and taba ng talangka (crab fat). The dish is topped with a variety of fresh seafood like shrimp, squid, and mussels, along with optional garnishes like pork, hard-boiled eggs, and crispy chicharrón (pork rinds).

While it might look similar to Pancit Palabok, there are some key differences. Pancit Malabon uses thicker noodles, and its sauce includes crab fat, which gives it a distinct taste. Mussels and oysters are also common toppings, making it a bit more seafood-rich.

Dolora’s Story: From Humble Beginnings to Widespread Popularity

Dolora’s Hauz of Pancit Malabon started nearly 30 years ago in a small carinderia in Marikina. Founded by Dolora Cecilia Buntan, this little eatery quickly gained a reputation for its unique take on Pancit Malabon. People from all over Metro Manila, and even beyond, would travel just to get a taste of her flavorful dish.

#BaguioEats: Breakfast at Hill Station Bistro, Camp John Hay

Baguio City is well-known for its cool climate, stunning views, and delicious food. Among the city’s many dining options, Hill Station Bistro stands out as a must-visit destination. Located in Camp John Hay this restaurant offers a unique mix of history, culture, and satisfying meals. During our Baguio vacation, Hill Station Bistro served as my family’s breakfast venue, highlighting the reasons why this spot has become a favorite for both locals and tourists.

We also took this opportunity to treat my mom to breakfast, allowing us to spend some time together in Baguio before we go back to our daily grind in Manila.

History and Background

Hill Station Bistro traces its roots back to the original Hill Station Restaurant in Casa Vallejo, a historic site in Baguio. The restaurant has since expanded, with the Bistro at SM City Baguio being one of its newer locations. While the Bistro may be more modern, it continues the legacy of its predecessor by preserving a connection to Baguio’s colonial past.

Atmosphere and Setting

The ambiance at Hill Station Bistro is both eclectic, casual and comfy. The interiors are thoughtfully decorated with art, which adds a touch of culture to the dining experience. The Bistro is situated in a Ayala Technohub of Camp John Hay, taking full advantage of the scenic views that surround it which diners can enjoy, especially if they choose the al fresco dining option.

Food and Menu

Hill Station Bistro’s menu is filled with a variety of choices, but during our visit after sight-seeing at the Strawberry Farm, my family and I loaded up on its breakfast offerings. My son started with the Fried Chicken & Waffles (Php330), a dish that brought together the savory and sweet in a satisfying way. The deep-fried chicken quarter leg was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, perfectly complemented by the fluffy waffles, a dollop of butter, and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Hubby and I, on the other hand, enjoyed our Pinoy Breakfast (Php290), a classic Filipino morning meal. It came with a choice of Baguio Longganisa, Vigan Longganisa, or Home-made Pork Tocino. They both opted for the Vigan Longganisa, which had a distinctive, slightly tangy flavor that complemented the garlicky rice and savory egg. It was a hearty and flavorful dish that captured the essence of a classic Filipino breakfast.

Mom, on the other hand, went for the Eggs Benedict (Php370), a breakfast favorite. This dish featured an English muffin topped with perfectly poached eggs, home-smoked ham, and a rich hollandaise sauce, served with a petite salad on the side. The eggs were cooked just right, and the hollandaise added a creamy, tangy touch that tied everything together.

To complete our breakfast, Mom had a Cafe Latte (Php160) while my boy had a house blend Iced Tea (Php90). The latte was smooth and rich, providing Mom a much-needed caffeine boost, while the iced tea was refreshing and light, balancing out the heavier flavors of my boy’s meal.

Final Thoughts

Our visit to Hill Station Bistro was a delightful experience that combined the unique charms of Baguio with a comfortable dining atmosphere and delicious food. Whether you’re looking for a place to enjoy a hearty brekkie or simply want to relax with a cup of coffee while taking in the views, Hill Station Bistro is an excellent choice. If you’re in Baguio, I highly recommend stopping by for a meal—you won’t be disappointed.

A taste of the ocean in the heart of Mandaluyong at Itmiro Oyster Bar & Kitchen

ITMIRO Oyster Bar & Kitchen is not your typical restaurant in Mandaluyong. Located in a bustling part of the city, ITMIRO offers a unique experience by bringing fresh, high-quality oysters and comfort food favorites right to Metro Manila. From locally sourced Aklan oysters to premium selections from Japan, Ireland, and Australia, ITMIRO’s offerings are as diverse as they are delicious.

Having passed by its impressive facade on multiple occasions, as well as having dined with my family at the Goto Tendon branch which has a secret door that leads to it, my curiosity was sparked about this new eatery. There’s little wonder then, that I eventually wore Hubby down until he gave in to my not-so-gentle nagging to take me there for dinner.

From Boracay to Manila: A New Chapter

The story behind ITMIRO is one of passion and consistency. John Penaloza, the owner, is no stranger to the food and hospitality industry. Having already made a name for himself with Two Seasons Hotel & Resorts and Goto Tendon, ITMIRO marks his third venture, this time focusing on delivering the freshest oysters and a range of delectable dishes to the city.

What makes ITMIRO particularly special is its connection to the renowned Two Seasons Hotel in Boracay, famous for its Four Cheese Pizza and Oyster Sisig. These beloved dishes, which once required a plane ticket to enjoy, are now available in Mandaluyong, much to the delight of loyal patrons.

A Sophisticated and Welcoming Ambiance

ITMIRO’s interior design is a reflection of its branding—clean, minimal, and inspired by the ocean as evidenced in the subtle patterns and textures that decorate the space. The combination of lines and circles used throughout the restaurant’s design captures the essence of oysters and waves, creating a serene and sophisticated atmosphere that complements the dining experience.

Contemporary Elegance is at the heart of ITMIRO’s ambiance. The space is designed to be both cozy and sophisticated, making it an ideal spot for dining with family and friends. The decor, featuring oyster-shaped chandeliers and nautical images, evokes the ambiance of a night by the beach, bringing a touch of coastal charm to the city. Whether you’re seated in the plush velvet booths or the inviting bar space, the warmth of the environment invites you to relax and unwind.

A Menu That Delivers Comfort and Quality

During a recent dinner at ITMIRO, Hubby, my son and I indulged in a variety of dishes that perfectly balanced comfort and sophistication. We started with the Four Cheese Pizza (Php930 for 12 inches), its much-celebrated crowd favorite that didn’t disappoint. The blend of blue cheese, cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan created a rich, flavorful experience that lived up to its reputation.

Next, we sampled several oyster dishes, each showcasing ITMIRO’s dedication to quality. The Baked Oysters (Php390 for 6 pieces) were a highlight, topped with a creamy homemade sauce that complemented the briny oysters perfectly.

The Oyster Rockefeller (Php580 for 6 pieces) offered a more complex flavor, with butter, parsley, onion, spinach, and parmesan cheese enhancing the natural taste of the oysters.

For Hubby, who’s always game for something new and wanted his oysters with a bit of crunch, the Breaded Japanese Oysters (Php790 for 3 pieces) were a hit. Deep-fried and served with a tangy Sriracha mayo sauce, these oysters were a satisfying and indulgent treat.

We also tried the Salpicao (Php595), featuring tender US beef sautéed in olive oil and topped with garlic, and the Crispy Baby Squid (Php680), served with a flavorful garlic aioli. To round out our meal, we added a simple yet essential side: Garlic Rice (Php90 per cup), which paired well with every dish.

How credit cards can serve as lifelines for small business owners

Running a small business comes with a unique set of financial challenges. Whether it’s managing cash flow, dealing with unexpected expenses, or facing difficulties in securing traditional financing, entrepreneurs often find themselves navigating uncertain waters. In these situations, credit cards can serve as lifelines, providing much-needed financial flexibility to keep your business on track.

The Financial Challenges Entrepreneurs Face

One of the most common challenges for entrepreneurs is managing cash flow. Revenue can be inconsistent, making it difficult to cover day-to-day expenses, pay suppliers, or invest in growth opportunities. Even a brief dip in income can cause significant strain on your business operations.

Unexpected expenses are another reality of entrepreneurship. Equipment may break down, inventory might run low at the worst possible time, or you could face an emergency situation that demands immediate financial attention. These unforeseen costs can disrupt your budget and hinder your progress.

Moreover, gaining access to traditional financing, such as bank loans, can be particularly challenging for small business owners. Without a strong credit history or collateral, you may find it difficult to secure the funds you need, especially during the early stages of your business.

How Credit Cards Can Help

Credit cards offer several benefits that can help you navigate these financial challenges. First and foremost, they provide access to immediate funds. Whether you need to purchase inventory, pay for marketing campaigns, or handle unexpected expenses, a credit card can be a quick and convenient way to cover these costs without waiting for loan approval.

Using a credit card responsibly can also help you build your business credit. Over time, a strong credit history can make it easier to secure larger financing options, such as business loans, that can further support your growth.

Credit cards also offer flexibility in managing your business expenses. You can track your spending, separate your personal and business finances, and use online tools to manage your budget more effectively. This level of control is crucial for making informed financial decisions and maintaining the health of your business.

How You Might Use a Credit Card for Your Business

Imagine a situation where you need to make a large purchase, such as new equipment or a bulk order of inventory. By using your credit card’s installment feature, you could convert this large expense into manageable monthly payments. This would allow you to invest in your business without putting undue strain on your cash flow.

Another scenario might involve taking advantage of discounts and rewards. For instance, you could use your credit card to purchase supplies from a vendor that offers exclusive discounts. Over time, these savings could significantly boost your bottom line, especially if you frequently make large purchases.

UnionBank Credit Cards for Entrepreneurs

UnionBank offers a range of credit cards designed to meet the specific needs of entrepreneurs like you. Here are some key benefits that could help you manage your business more effectively:

  • In-House Installment. If you need to make a significant purchase, you can convert your transactions into fixed monthly installments. This feature can help you manage large expenses without disrupting your budget.
  • Longer Credit Terms. You can enjoy up to 53 days of credit at 0% interest if you pay your full balance by the due date. This extended period gives you the flexibility to manage your cash flow more effectively.
  • Exclusive Discounts. You can take advantage of discounts, perks, and freebies at a wide range of establishments. These savings can add up, especially when making regular business-related purchases.
  • Worldwide Acceptance. Your UnionBank Visa or Mastercard credit card is accepted at over a million establishments worldwide. This is particularly beneficial if you do business internationally or frequently travel for work.
  • Credit Card Security & Protection. UnionBank provides robust security features to help you keep your transactions and personal information safe. This protection is essential in today’s digital age, where cybersecurity is a growing concern.

Credit cards can be powerful tools for entrepreneurs, offering the financial flexibility, security, and convenience needed to overcome challenges and seize opportunities. If you’re looking for a credit card that can support your business, consider exploring UnionBank’s options.

MMDC and Concentrix launch innovative Work & Study Program to empower working students in achieving success

For many Filipinos, the dream of earning a college degree while supporting themselves or their families feels just out of reach. The daily grind of balancing work and studies can be overwhelming, leading many to put their education on hold or abandon it altogether. With 1.60 million unemployed Filipinos as of December 2023, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority, and a workforce still struggling with a skills gap, the need for accessible education and meaningful job opportunities has never been more urgent.

Working students often face a unique set of challenges: long hours at work, financial pressures, and the constant juggle between academic and professional responsibilities. For these individuals, the traditional education model often falls short, failing to accommodate their complex lives. But a new partnership between Mapúa Malayan Digital College (MMDC) and Concentrix is set to change that narrative, offering a beacon of hope for those striving to better their futures.

The MMDC-Concentrix Work & Study Program: A New Hope for Working Students

Recognizing the hurdles faced by working students, MMDC, a premier digital-first, fully online college in the Philippines, has teamed up with Concentrix, a global leader in customer experience solutions, to launch an innovative Work & Study Program. This collaboration is more than just a typical corporate-educational partnership; it’s a bold initiative designed to empower working students by providing them with the tools, resources, and flexibility they need to succeed both academically and professionally.

“Working students in the country have been underserved for years,” says Hazel Banas, Vice President for People Solutions at Concentrix. “The focus has been on basic education and traditional college models that we believe don’t serve the needs of our working students. We need more people in the workforce, and the way to produce that, to contribute to the economy and the country’s growth, is to produce more professionals.”

This partnership aims to do just that—produce more professionals who are not only academically equipped but also experienced and ready to contribute to the nation’s growth.

Addressing the Pain Points of Working Students: How the Program Works

One of the most significant barriers for working students is time—there’s simply not enough of it. The MMDC-Concentrix Work & Study Program directly addresses this issue by offering a part-time job with a flexible college schedule that allows students to manage their time effectively. Participants in the program will work 20-30 hours a week while taking 3-4 subjects per term at MMDC, ensuring they can balance work, school, and personal responsibilities.

Engr. Dennis Tablante, MMDC’s Executive Director, highlights the program’s focus on flexibility: “MMDC is here to support working students who want to take up a career in IT and Business and set them up for success. We offer flexible schedules to cater to those who have more than enough on their plate but want to step up their careers and current skill sets. We have top industry leaders to guide our students to become highly equipped professionals who can contribute to the country’s economic growth.”

Financial constraints are another major obstacle for working students. To ease this burden, the program includes a Salary Deduction Program and covers matriculation fees per term for eligible part-time employees. Additionally, MMDC offers the Asenso Scholarship, providing a 36% discount on tuition fees, and partners with BukasPH and GCash to offer further financial aid. These initiatives make higher education more accessible, allowing students to focus on their studies without the constant worry of financial strain.

The program also emphasizes holistic development. With a mentorship program in place, students receive guidance not just on academic subjects, but also on personal and professional growth. This ensures that graduates are not only knowledgeable but also well-rounded, ready to tackle the challenges of the modern workforce.

The Bigger Picture: Empowering a Generation

The MMDC-Concentrix partnership isn’t just about helping individual students—it’s about fueling the growth of an entire generation of skilled professionals. With the IT-BPM Association of the Philippines aiming to create 2.5 million new jobs by 2028, programs like this are crucial in expanding the country’s talent pool. As more working students gain the qualifications and experience they need to succeed, the nation as a whole stands to benefit.

Tonichi Parekh, Concentrix’s Vice President for Client Success, encapsulates the program’s vision: “We are tech-led and human-empowered, so we decided to partner with MMDC so that we could also empower our employees, we call them game changers, so that they could also live up to their dream of finishing their school while they are working. It changes the dynamics a little bit when the employer offers to their employees that they can actually study and finish their college degrees.”

Empower Your Future

For working students, the path to achieving their dreams has always been steep, but with the MMDC-Concentrix Work & Study Program, that journey is becoming more manageable. This program is an opportunity to gain the skills and education needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market, all while maintaining a stable income.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and education, Concentrix invites you to apply for their Customer Service Advisor roles at their Ayala North Exchange, Makati, or Nuvali, Sta. Rosa offices. Once hired, you’ll have the chance to enroll in MMDC and become part of this transformative program. Employment begins on October 1, 2024, and the first term at MMDC starts on August 19, 2024, with enrollment closing on August 31, 2024.

Don’t let the challenges of being a working student hold you back. With MMDC and Concentrix by your side, you can achieve your goals and build a brighter future for yourself and your family. Apply now and take the first step toward unlocking your dreams.

Goto Tendon: Mandaluyong’s new Pinoy comfort food destination

In the fast pace of city life, finding a spot that serves comforting, familiar food can be a real treat. For me and the fam, Goto Tendon on Boni Avenue is exactly that place—a haven for anyone in need of hearty Filipino dishes that remind us of home. This restaurant has quickly become a favorite for those who appreciate the simple pleasure of a well-cooked meal that feels like a warm hug.

A Family Legacy Transformed

The story of Goto Tendon starts with Jenny Peñaloza’s search for something new. After dedicating herself to family life, she wanted to create something meaningful. Along with her husband John, they took Jenny’s beloved goto—a recipe handed down from John’s grandmother, Nena Peñaloza—and turned it into a restaurant. The result is a place that doesn’t just serve food; it serves up a slice of family history and tradition with every bowl.

Convenient Location, Comfortable Atmosphere

This new Goto Tendon branch is conveniently located along Boni Avenue in Mandaluyong City, making it an easy stop whether we’re heading home, to work, or school. It shares a building with Itmiro Oyster Bar & Kitchen, and there’s even a hidden staircase connecting the two (more on this on my next post).

Inside, the restaurant is clean and air-conditioned, with plenty of seating, definitely an upgrade to the neighborhood gotohan. It’s a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal, though parking can be tricky, especially in the evenings when Itmiro is busy.

A Menu That Hits the Spot

The menu at Goto Tendon has something for everyone, and here’s what my family and I keep coming back for:

Beef Tendon Mami (Php288): This egg noodle soup with beef and tendon is a staple for my hubby. It’s comforting and rich, making it a favorite of my husband, especially on chilly days.

Goto Tendon Boni

Beef Tendon Pares (Php238): This dish features tender braised beef stew with collagen-rich tendon, garlic rice, soup, and a homemade chili sauce. It’s a hearty meal that’s quickly become a go-to for us.

Beef Tendon Pares Noodles (Php288): My son loves this version with dry egg noodles and a side of soup. It’s the same great beef stew and tendon, but with a different twist that keeps it interesting. Of course, he gets an extra order of Garlic Rice (Php45) because carbo-loading is life.

Say hello to the New McCafe Iced Coffee

If your day is not complete without a cup (or two… or more!) of coffee, then you’re definitely not alone.

Coffee consumption in the country has been steadily growing, with Pinoys shifting from being moderate coffee drinkers to heavy consumers of the beverage, according to a recent Qantar World Panel study. In fact, eight of ten Filipinos drink 2.5 cups of coffee per day.

Personally, I couldn’t start my day without my cuppa, and I often find myself reaching for it time and again throughout the day to perk me up for my daily activities, or in the case of iced coffee, get me refreshed during hot weather. Plus, when I take my coffee with my family members at home, or with my coworkers in the office, my coffee break gets elevated into a bonding moment which is always a welcome development in my book.

Speaking of iced coffee, did you know that McDonald’s was the first fast-food restaurant to make this drink available to the Philippine market when it launched its McCafe brand in 2012? Fast forward to today, in line with its drive to improve its food and beverage offerings to serve its markets better, McCafe is launching a new formulation for its iced coffee characterized by a “bolder brew and “creamier blend.”

Together with my fellow foodies and other KOLs, I attended the launch of McCafe’s newest iced coffee variants that are sure to make McCafe the go-to coffee anytime, anywhere. There, we participated in various games and activities that drew us deeper into our coffee advanture.

To take us further into our coffee experience, we also went through a mindful sensory coffee tasting activity which activated all our senses as we enjoyed our coffee to fully evaluate its various qualities. (You might want to try doing these too when enjoying your own beverage to heighten your appreciation for the drink.)

  • Sense of Feel. Wrap your hands around the cup and feel its temperature. Your iced coffee should, of course, be cold.
  • Sense of Smell. Lift the lid of the coffee cup and breathe in its rich aroma. You should smell the vibrant roast.
  • Sense of Sight. Peer into your cup and check out the rich and dark color of black coffee or the creamy tan of the milkier variants of iced coffee.
  • Sense of Hearing and Taste. As you sip, listen to the sound the coffee makes and how it feels as it enters your mouth. Take note of the flavors that immediately stand out and which ones become apparent over time.

Equipped with fresh ways to appreciate the drink, we were all introduced to five new and better McCafe Iced Coffee variants which all characterized by a bolder brew and creamier blend!

  • McCafe Iced Coffee Vanilla. The original coffee flavored with vanilla syrup resulting in a balanced blend of creamy milk and sweet vanilla.
  • McCafe Iced Coffee Chocolate. Bold black iced coffee with a balanced blend of creamy milk and rich chocolate syrup.
  • McCafe Iced Coffee Black. Rich and bold unsweetened iced coffee.
  • McCafe Iced Coffee Float. Black iced coffee topped with creamy soft-serve ice cream and rich chocolate syrup.

Aside from these new and improved flavors, the McCafe Iced Coffee also went through a packaging glow-up thanks to its bright yellow cups (available in medium and large sizes) that embody the energy and excitement that infuses McCafe’s Iced Coffee.

Recipe: Shrimp Mardi Gras

As a true-blue foodie, I sometimes get the urge to have the delicious dishes I’ve tasted in restaurants right in the comfort of my home. This inclination not only allows me to test out and expand my mad skills in the kitchen, but also enables me to share my food adventures with the fam (and even friends) without breaking the bank. (Take my Cheesy Baked Salmon recipe for example. It has become a go-to holiday dish not just in my family but also among my friends who can’t thank me enough for the recipe.)

This takes us to Shrimp Mardi Gras by The Shrimp Bucket.

About the Dish

The Shrimp Bucket serves jumbo white shrimps, crabs and mussels – whether boiled, grilled or fried – in a bag by the pound drenched in a flavorful sauce of the diner’s choice. As it turns out, one of my favorite sauces is Mardi Gras.

The sauce is named after the famous Louisiana, USA holiday that takes place on the Tuesday immediately preceding Ash Wednesday, which in turn, signal the start of the Lenten Season. As Lent is a time of fasting and abstinence, Mardi Gras – also known as Fat Tuesday – presents the last chance for people to eat rich foods before they deprive themselves in keeping with the season.

True to its name, this flavorful buttery and garlicky adds a lot of richness to The Shrimp Bucket’s offerings. I can’t wait to prepare this for my family.

My take on the recipe

After a bit of trial and error, here’s the recipe that best approximates the flavors that I love with The Shrimp Bucket’s Shrimp Mardi Gras. I had to tweak the ingredients a bit by substituting fresh shrimp with packaged frozen jumbo shrimp, and Spanish chorizo with skinless longganisa, for convenience and economy.

Ingredients:

  • 500g frozen jumbo frozen jumbo shrimp
  • 5 pieces skinless pork longganisa
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 whole garlic, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon dry white wine (in my case I used what wine was available – Pink Moscato)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Procedure:

  • Thaw the shrimp and pat dry then season with salt.
  • Fry the longganisa on a hot pan, sauteing and breaking the pieces up into bits until lightly toasted and oil has been rendered. Place the longganisa bits off to the side of the pan.
  • Add the butter then stir in the garlic and the chili flakes. Saute until the garlic slices are lightly browned (be careful not to burn them).
  • Add the shrimp and the paprika. Saute together with the longganisa bits until shrimp is cooked, turning opaque and slightly pink. Remove the pan from heat.
  • Stir in the wine, lemon juice and parsley.
  • Serve hot with hot rice or crusty bread.

If the empty plates at the end of our meal was anything to go by, I’d say that this dish was a hit with the fam!

Next time, I’ll try the Mardi Gras sauce with some steamed mussels and pair the dish with Creamy Salted Egg Shrimp.

When to serve

I’m sure you’d love this dish as well and would want to show it off during special occasions. Here are some of the instances when it will definitely be a showstopper:

  • Family Reunions. Bring a special treat to seafood lovers in the next clan get-together. The good news is that even the meatlovers would love it too!
  • Holiday Meals. Add this to your Noche Buena or Media Noche spread to make your holiday feast one for the books!
  • Office Potlucks. Wow your co-workers with your kitchen prowess with this tasty viand.

How about you? When will you be serving this up to your nears-and-dears?

#BaguioEats: Canto Bogchi Joint

Baguio City is known for its cool climate and vibrant food scene. One restaurant that stands out in this bustling city is Canto Bogchi Joint. Located on Kisad Road, just across from Burnham Park, Canto has become a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.

A Brief History

Canto Bogchi Joint first opened in 2008 at Engineer’s Hill with just three tables. The restaurant quickly gained popularity for its American comfort food. After three years, it moved to the Ketchup Food Community, where it continued to attract a loyal following. When the Ketchup Food Community closed in 2017, Canto found a new home on Kisad Road. This location has been a hit, often with queues of people eager to try its food.
