Hubby’s go-to delivery resto to get his bite of burrito is Army Navy.
It is a fast food restaurant chain that specializes in freshly made and premium burgers and burritos. What makes it stand out is its military theme, which probably also explains the store’s appeal to Hubby.
While browsing through his Grab app, looking for something to snack on in between Slack meetings, he happened upon Army Navy’s Burger + Burrito Holiday Group Meal. He immediately placed an order to share the snack bundle with the fam. This group meal consists of:
Two Classic Burgers. Quarter-pound beef patties served with lettuce, onion and tomato in sesame seed buns. Quite filling for a snack.
Two Burritos. Hubby opted for steak burritos which consist of beef pieces, Spanish rice, frijoles, lettuce and cilantro wrapped in flour tortilla. I wish this had more meat in it. Other burrito variants available are chicken, pork carnitas and vegetable.
Two Orders of Freedom Fries. Thin-cut and seasoned fries with a zesty and crispy exterior.
Four Jars of Libertea Iced Tea. Army Navy’s house-brewed iced tea. These are not much on sweetness and they have an aftertaste that doesn’t appeal to me. I love the reusable jars these are served in, though.
My preferences aside, Hubby continues to be a loyal Army Navy customer. And as long as he shares his snacks to the fam, I won’t be complaining.
This Army Navy branch is located at Hampton Arcade, C. Raymundo Avenue, Maybunga, Pasig City, open daily 24/7 for pickup and delivery. Just call +63 2 83333131 or course your order via GrabFood.
If the past few months of quarantine has taught me anything, it is that we need every bit of comfort we can get.
These are not normal times and we are not operating at our usual capacity. Therefore, we need to treasure what sources of joy or contentment we have.
Personally, I take comfort in good food. When I feel overwhelmed during a busy workday or in the midst of mounting house chores, a bite into something delicious will soon set me – and the world – to rights.
To you, my dear foodies, I’m happy to share my discovery of a new source of comfort: 616 Burger.
This passion project of twenty-two-year-old recent UST grad Alyanna Manuel started off as her quarantine pastime and side hustle. Building on her family’s experiences in running food businesses, and her own love for cooking, she started whipping up her favorite comfort food and offering them online at affordable prices. Her menu items consist of familiar snack items that are leveled up by way of ingredients and preparation to satisfy the palate of discriminating foodies.
The Crunchy Bacon Burger (Php160), for instance, is made with pure beef burger patty flavored by six spices and well complemented by the smokey bacon, slices of fresh veggies and its garlic mayo sauce inside a freshly baked bun. Crunchy bits of Piknik add some interesting texture to every bite of this juicy burger.
The burger’s trusty sidekick, the Cheesy Overload Fries (Php85), on the other hand, has a crispier texture than other fries due to its light breading. The sauteed ground beef and cheese sauce added some heartiness to this side dish.
If you still can’t get enough of cheese, then grab a Cheese Quesadilla (Php110), buttery toasted soft tortillas encasing high quality cheese.
Snacking on these gave me and the kiddos a happy respite in an otherwise crazy day.
To get your hands on these comforting snack items, message 616 Burger on Facebook or Instagram or fill out the online order form. Cashless payments via GCash, Paymaya and BPI are accepted. 616 Burger’s snack items can be delivered from Don Enrique Heights in Quezon City to anywhere in Metro Manila.

In a market dominated by western-style burgers, MOS Burger will introduce a distinctly Japanese flavor to burger-loving Filipinos as it opens its first branch in the Philippines this February 27, 2020 in Robinsons Galleria.
“We heard that Filipinos love burgers as much as they love Japanese food. In introducing MOS Burger to the Philippines, we are giving them two of the things that they most love. We can’t wait for them to try our Japanese-style burgers,” said MOS Burger Philippines president Araki Masahide.
During a pop-up store event last month, MOS Burger introduced its version of a signature cheese burger with meat sauce and the original yakiniku rice burger. Some of the items on the menu for the first Philippine branch are the following: yakiniku rice burger, MOS cheese burger, wagyu burger, seafood tempura rice burger, and natsumi, a lettuce wrap burger.
As a way to welcome the dining public to its first store in the country, MOS Burger will give out gifts to its first 50 customers on opening day. In-store surprises also await customers every hour on February 27. The store’s operating hours will be from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Founded in Tokyo in 1972, MOS Burger is ranked number two in sales among all burger chains in Japan. It has around 1,300 stores in Japan and almost 400 stores overseas.
MOS stands for mountain, ocean, and sun—three elements that symbolize the company’s commitment to good service and how it trains its employees to approach their work. The mountain symbolizes its thrust to “stand tall and firm as a mountain.” The ocean, meanwhile, symbolizes its aim “to have a heart as big and generous as the ocean”, and the sun stands for “undying passion.”
MOS Burger also adheres to the old Japanese proverb “ishoku dogen”, which means food and medicine come from the same source so we could maintain our health through a balanced diet.
MOS Burger Philippines was formed in 2019 to oversee the local operations of MOS Burger. The company is the result of a joint venture agreement between MOS Food Services Inc. of Japan and Tokyo Coffee Holdings of the Young family of General Milling Corporation.
Its aggressive expansion plan in the Philippines will see the opening of several branches in Metro Manila this year. Apart from the one in Robinsons Galleria, MOS Burger stores will be opened in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong, One Eastwood Tower 2 and Robinsons Magnolia in Quezon City, O-Square in Greenhills, San Juan, and Robinsons Manila.
At last January is over and done with. Now, let’s get ourselves in gear for the month of hearts – February!
And what better way to celebrate this month than to spend time with our Significant Other in a special place, one that can provide not only a venue for a romantic outing but also good food that can make the experience truly memorable?
Well, venture into the still seemingly uncharted Aseana City Business Park in Paranaque and there you will find the newly opened 390 Degrees.
Operated by the same team that brought about Ombu Kusina in Quezon City, 390 Degrees brings the same hearty servings and imaginative takes on comfort food in an elegantly well-appointed setting that Ombu Kusina does.
Here, though, the restaurant’s concept centers around its charcoal brick oven which influences all of its dishes. In fact, the resto’s name 390 Degrees refers to the temperature that restaurant’s oven must maintain to produce its delectable dishes.
In a special foodie meetup hosted by 390 Degrees’ head chef Mark Griffin Oraiz and marketing head Tammy Lim, my fellow food bloggers and I were treated to a sneak peek into the resto’s exciting Valentine’s offering.
Curious yet? Imagine dining with your special someone on a special meal for two which consist of:
Tomato Soup with Ravioli. Thick soup of pureed tomatoes topped with spinach-cheese ravioli to warm your tummies and your hearts.
Chicken Ceasar Salad. Get your taste buds ready with this hearty salad made with lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers and sliced hard-boiled egg tossed in a creamy Ceasar salad dressing topped with a dash of paprika and topped with sliced charcoal-grilled chicken.
Pepper Crusted Steak. Juicy steak with peppery seasoning charcoal grilled to a medium doneness. You can choose two side dishes to go with this dish (and the chef recommends Sweet Potato Mash and Cauliflower and Cheese.
Two Mini Salted Caramel Cream Puffs. Finish off the meal with these cute and not-too-sweet pastries.
Two Glasses of Shiraz Red Wine. All the better to drink to more wonderful times ahead!
This special Valentine’s meal is available from February 3 to 29 for only Php2000! So what are you waiting for? Book your Valentine’s date today!
The tasty eats don’t stop at Valentine’s, though. Check out the other yummy viands you can enjoy with your family and friends:
Vegetable Chowder (Php200). A cream-based soup with mixed vegetables served inside a charcoal-baked bread bowl.
Seafood Marinara (Php270). Mixed seafood tossed with fusili pasta in a savory tomato sauce.
Margherita Pizza (Php290). Tomato, basil and mozarella top a hand-stretched charcoal-baked pizza.
The Black Burger (Php530). A hefty and juicy charcoal-grilled burger patty sandwiched in charcoal activated burger bun with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, caramelized onions and cheese.
Blackened Salmon (Php880). A charcoal-baked salmon fillet with creamy dill sauce which go so well with Rice Pilaf as a side dish. I usually look for a cream cheese topping for baked salmon but this dish has no need for it.
Tiramisu. 390 Degrees’ take on the coffee-based Italian dessert.
All those good food will work up quite a thirst. Fortunately, 390 Degrees has a bevy of refreshing drinks to quench your thirst:
390 Signature Iced Tea (Php120). House-brewed black tea given some zest by the addition of lemon and pineapple.
Tropical Lagoon Soda (Php120). A fun and citrusy fizzy drink made with blue curacao, orange juice and soda water.
Mountain Mojito (Php130). A herb-flavored drink made with lime, mint leaves and soda water.
With such delish dishes and drinks, 390 Degrees is slated to be one of the hottest foodie destinations this side of the metro!
Many thanks to Tammy, Chef Griffin and the staff of 390 Degrees for the warm and fun welcome and the delightful food and to Kaycee of Date For Two for extending the invitation!
390 Degrees is located at Ground Floor, Sequioa Hotel Manila, Aseana City Business Park, Entertainment City, Paranaque, open daily from 6.30am to 10pm. For inquiries and reservations, call +63 921 2446502 or +63 945 639 0724.
For the meantime, the restaurant accepts payments in cash only.
Check out my posts on other places for your romantic date in the metro:
Leading Japanese burger chain MOS Burger will have a two-day pop-up store at the second level of Robinsons Galleria (ADB Avenue entrance) prior to the opening of its restaurant in the same area on the first quarter of the year.
Doors will open at 12 noon on January 15 and 16, but customers can line up as early as 10:00 AM to have first dibs on two of its classic burgers—the Signature MOS Cheese Burger (Php149) and Yakiniku Rice Burger (Php169).
These are MOS Burgers’ international menu mainstays that will be part of the Philippine menu. The first branch is scheduled to open this February at Robinsons Galleria. Three hundred burgers will be made available during the pop-up event, and each customer can purchase a maximum of two burgers per order.
Last year, MOS Burger Philippines was established to operate the local branch of MOS Burger and MOS Café following a joint venture agreement between MOS Food Services Inc. of Japan and Tokyo Coffee Holdings.

Lowbrow Casual Restaurants, the company behind restaurant brands such as Fowlbread, Beefier and Bad Bird, has recently launched its new store at Glorietta.
BBX was originally intended to be an extension of the group’s fried chicken chain Bad Bird (with BBX standing in for “Bad Bird Express”) but it has outgrown its old concept and evolved its own identity.
BBX is now a semi-self-service restaurant that provides mall-goers an alternative to other fast-food places. This is the place to be for great-tasting and afforadably priced fried chicken, burgers and rice meals.
Oh, and being self-service means that you fetch your own condiments, clean up after yourself and pack your own leftovers for takeaways. (So parents, do take your kids here to teach them the value of CLAYGO.)
During a recent visit together with my foodie friends, I was able to try out some of BBX’s offerings, which included:
Fried Chicken.
Fried Chicken Plate (Php179). Juicy and crispy chicken deep-fried Southern-style to golden brown perfection and served piping-hot with house-made gravy. The fried chicken piece is big, satisfying and well-complemented by the gravy. This is available in safe and spicy variants. Diners also have the option to go boneless just by adding (Php20).
BB Crispers (Php259). Crispy fried boneless chicken thighs in a garlic and butter glaze. A variant in better than buffalo glaze is also available.
Sandwiches.
Ruben Sandwich (Php289). Corned beef, pickled onion and cheese between toasted sourdough. I’m not a fan of corned beef sandwiches but the pickled onion and the sourdough give this sandwich a special kind of taste that I like.
Crispy Fish Sandwich (Php246). Deep-fried fillets of fish, sliced tomatoes and shredded cabbage in creamy sauce in a fluffy artisanal burger bun.
Rice Meals.
Double Longganisa and Egg (Php229). House-made longganisa patties served with sunny side up egg, atchara and vinegar.
Double Burger Steak (Php259). Two flavorful patties made from 100% ground fresh beef served with corn and cream cheese.
For these rice meals, an option to upgrade to garlic fried rice is available for Php29.
Salad.
Garlic Sesame Chicken (Php230). A light and fresh salad of romaine lettuce, fried chicken and croutons doused in garlic sesame dressing.
Side Dish.
Corn and Cream Cheese (Php89). A lovely blend of sweet corn and cream cheese which serves a great accompaniment to any of BBX’ rice plates or sandwiches.
Diners also have the option to add this or any other side dish plus iced tea to any rice plate or sandwich for just Php99.
Desserts.
Huskies (Php119). Parfaits made of chia seeds and coconut milk flavored with mango and coconuts. Other variants include pineapple dragonfruit and chocolate tiramisu.
BB Cakes (Php125). Moist cake rolls of Spiced Pumpkin & Cream Cheese and Ube & White Chocolate which serve as a fitting end to the meal. Also available in Banana & Dulce de Leche and Double Chocolate flavors.
BBX is definitely a welcome addition to my favorite Glorietta food haunts. Why don’t you drop by and give it a try?
Many thanks to the management and staff of BBX for the wonderful food and to Jen of Sand Under My Feet for extending the invitation!
BBX is located at Second Floor, Glorietta 2, Glorietta Complex, Makati City, open Sundays to Thursdays from 10am to 9pm and Fridays to Saturdays from 10am to 10pm. For inquiries, call +63 2 73738659.

At first glance, you would think that Pound by Todd English is too classy to be a burger joint.
Of course, its stylish and well-appointed interiors are a far cry from the usual formica tables, upholstered chairs and greasy floors of the run-of-the-mill burger places.
Nope, this swanky resto is where you can enjoy expertly crafter burgers and sliders in leisure and style.
But guess what: you can dine here quite affordably too!
My officemates and I recently ventured away from the office for lunch and as soon we caught sight of this poster, we knew exactly where we would be having our midday repast.
Also known as the Dollar Menu (because Php55 converts roughly to USD1), the Special Php55 Menu presented us the opportunity to treat ourselves to some of Pound by Todd English’s well-crafted offerings for just Php55 each.
We took advantage of this offer and got ourselves some yummy eats:
Tomato Cream Pasta. A half-serving of pasta in a creamy tomato-based sauce.
Truffle Ketchup Fries. Well-seasoned French fries accompanied by ketchup in truffle oil.
Onion Cube. Lightly battered, thinly sliced onion rings deep-fried to a crispy golden brown and shaped into a cube. It is served with a Todd English sweet spice sauce.
TE Sliders. Two pieces of sliders at Php55 each which are made of house ground beef, tomato slices, iceberg lettuce, crispy onions mustard relish and #sauce.
Betty White. Vanilla milkshake topped with whipped cream, blondie bits and caramel sauce.
My officemate also got herself a Pound for Pound (Php195) which consists of sampler of TE Slider and a #Crispy Chicken Slider.
Imagine having such a tasty lunch at such a fancy place with a spend ranging from Php110 to Php250 per person, thanks to the Php55 menu!
